“kerosene” tank for your “garage furnace”?
You are also purchasing the diesel from somewhere so there is a paper trail to follow. Farmers with diesel equipment are the only ones that can really pull this off.
where, pray tell, do you know of a 55 mile stretch of highway with no turns / hills or traffic?
I didn’t say hills, thruway should work between roc and buf enough to beat the highway testing cycle.
Golf TDI’s actually are pretty fun to drive with a tune and a rear sway bar.
Not drifing fun, but they aren’t super lame to live with.
Mine’s not bad, I can think of worse Daily drivers that get around the same mileage. Most of them are 2 pedal cars too, so boring.
x…
Should I say that my Volt is around 280mpg lifetime right now? And the cost of electricity is only 20-25 per month charging almost everyday?
on the way to carlisle last year i got just under 36mpg around 75mph on cruise, the higher the rpm you’re at in 6th the higher the gas mileage goes up lol
Geez and to think my S2000 gets around 17mpg lol
Maybe because you make 3-4 times the power he makes and you do rolling burnouts every chance you get? :gotme:
My turbo honda (350hp) still got almost 30 beating on it daily.
meh. dont care. im not sold on the whole electric/hybrid idea. especially when they get some miles on them. seems like they would be a nightmare to maintain or fix when something major fails…
over how many miles with the volt and does that factor in charging when you’re at work?
4100+ right now and I do charge at work but I plug it in everyday because it’s usually out of charge or close to it by the time I get home.
actually…they’re not that bad to maintain as I understand it, I shot the breeze about hybrids with ColdAccord just last week…he’s well versed in maintaining them
ok, how about when something major fails with the hybrid/electic system of the drivetrain?
kinda offtopic lol, i remember when my dads buddy called me to help him get the oil filter off his prius. i went over there and looked under it, all that was left of the filter was the end cap that threads onto the fitting on the block. lmao. apparently he has one of those filter removal tools that fits on the end of a ratchet and he thought you tighten the filter with those too. it was on there so tight that he just kept tearing apart the filter when trying to get it off. im amazed he didnt crack or snap off the filter fitting/adapter.
according to dre, they are engineered to far outlast the combustion engine in longevity/reliability. He said in his expereinces and research, failures are extremely uncommon. He said for the most part, you maintain them the same as a regular car…oil changes, brakes, ball joints, wheel bearings, etc.
Yea your probably right, even while driving somewhat nice its not pretty though.
One of my clients said to me today “it’s a good looking little car and you’re going green” to which I replied “it’s a hideous little car I’m just cheap”.
have you (can you) done any sort of math to see how much dollars of electric / mile it’s costing. Kind of sounds like you’re spending $50 / month for charging it + gas and not looking very attractive at that.
If electricity costs $0.11 per kilowatt-hour, charging an all-electric vehicle with a 70-mile range (assuming a 24 kWh battery) will cost about $2.64 to reach a full charge.
