gas problem!

id just finished puttin a engine (ka24e) in my car (1989 240sx) and fired it up this afternoon, once it was running it had a rough idle, and a complete miss on cylinder 3, so i removed spark plugs to do a compression test, when crankin the motor over gas was literly spurting across the garage … only cylinder 3 was doin it not the rest. when the car is runnin the exhaust is white but gas is drippin out of the tail pipe. after i put a new fuel injector in cylinder 3 and checked spark , spark was good and the problem still happens … any info on this would be great …
thanks
troy

Well, unburned fuel coming out your tailpipe should be black like diesel smoke. White exhaust indicates that coolant is passing through the combustion chamber. Not good.

Where was the gas shooting from? If you’re doing a compression test and have a meter in the spark plug hole, you shouldn’t be able to have gas shooting all over your garage.

Are you sure it was gas coming out of the tail pipe, not just condensation?

You say the exhaust was white, but how much was there and what did it smell like? If there’s a shitload of it and it smells kinda sweet, well then you’ve probably got a blown headgasket.

You say that you were doing a compression test and gas was spurting across the garage, but where was it coming from? What sort of numbers did you get on the compression test?

Does your oil smell like gas?

When cranking the motor, you have fuel squirting out of cylinder 3? Then you have a problem with that injector staying wide open. I would check your wiring harness and make sure you haven’t got something messed up. Are you sure you have the proper injector plug on injector 3???
