i drive a 92 180,
redtop sr20. engines stock everything except bov,exhaust,downpipe/no cat.
i have quite a bit of white smoke that billows out from my exhaust.
just recently started, but it doesn’t smell like headgasket.
it does it at a hot idle, usually at red lights and such.
what could it be besides the head gasket.

when u say doesnt smell like a head gasket do you mean it doesnt have the brown sugar/maple cookie smell of the glycol in your antifreeze or is there something else? The only time I had white smoke it was the head gasket and ended up hydrolocking my engine. Hope that its something else for you but for the life of me I cant think what.
well it sounds like your definatly burning coolant.
same thing happened in mine, head gasket went.
i dont no what else it could be?

its really hard to explain without just showing someone.
i have seen blown headgaskets before but this just seems different.
and only in warm idle. and when i rev it, it kinda goes away but still comes out.

if a turboed car is blowing white smoke, it could mean your turbo is fucked .
that would most likly be blue geoff.
cheak your coolant res, and your oil just to double and triply check its not a h/g. other then that see what fluid has been lost the most. and does it even have a smell of somthing burning?
it smells like something, but nothing like ive smelled before.
the only other turbo car i had was a 3sgte celica, but that thing was mint.
all fluids stay topped up constantly, and yesterday i seen a drip of oil on the ground, leaned under and theres some oil leakage somewere underneath, but i dont know how this could lead to white smoke.
Stock SR20 huh? Only happens at lights?

Could be bad seals on your turbo…if you’re not getting any coolant in your oil and it dosent have that really sweet smell then im almost sure it’s your turbo
im assuming ti was, this threads a couple weeks old, my turbo blew a week ago :S
