ok so i got a 89 coupe thats in decent condition however the rust has gotten the best of my gas tank. the leak consists of a consistant fuel odour aswell as some spotting here n there on the floor im guess of gasoline.
anybody got any ideas?
is there such thing as sealing these leaks?
or am i going to have to find a non-rusted tank off a parts car?
(if so do the coupe n hatch have the same tank?)
if anyone can help me out i’d greatly appreciate it.

nope, just when i get over half, or when i tilt the car, so im guessing its the seam as i heard leaks? any fixes?
ya see i had the problem where the fuel sending unit was rusted away and it had its days where it leaked and others it didn’t, its pretty easy to get at take the carpet out of your trunk and unscrew the lid on your floor then it should be right under that. check that first as its easy to fix. if indeed it is your seam, there are products out there that stick to tank and gas wont eat it away, but i mean that’s a very short term thing. its like a putty material you can get it at CT.
