George W. Douche keeps talking about "America's addiction to oil"

52 million is nothing when you’re making $10 Billion in profits every quarter. in this country if you are good at hitting a ball with a stick, you can make almost that much money. He’s running the most profitable business in the history of the planet. Its good that you’re getting pissed about numbers, just not the right ones.

And dont shift blame from the government (congress as well as the President). They havent done one fucking thing right since Bush came into office. America gets punched in the face and we just wildly throws haymakers at a foe we cant even see. Even after all the 9/11 shit, we proved we still arent capable of dealing with a serious threat, even with a 3-4 day heads up (Katrina).

  1. Our oil refineries are outdated.
  2. Our nuclear facilities are outdated.
  3. We have lots of coal to convert to gasoline/oil.
  4. We have lots of soy/corn/wheat to make ethanol
  5. The people in charge have been grossly negligent due to greed.

Again, America has so much coal that I’ll reiterate the previous comments I made about coal to gasoline/oil extraction. It’s approaching viability.

It’s the American farmer getting paid to not grow crops to drive up price.

It’s Westinghouse not being tapped to install more of their new, energy efficient modular nuclear reactor facilities for 30 years.

It’s oil refinery capacity being stunted by lack of upgrades.

This situation was created for one purpose: to line the pockets of the energy barrons of this country. We can reach foreign energy independence, but it’s going to take getting officials in place that will foster this activity instead of lining their own pockets via questionable and quite possibly illegal/COI business practices.

What he said.

you all bitch too much… bush isnt the whole reason that this shit is happening… we could drill alaska, we could all drive fucking bikes around… but we dont… were addicted to oil… and that is the truth… people around the south hills still travel as much as they did… and they just deal with prices…

simple fact … if youve gone to alaska… which i did last summer… you wouldnt want to touch the landscape they want to drill… too fucking beautiful

and btw… the bush ADMINISTRATION is responsible… not just bush… hes the puppet, as with every other president… and is the poster child of the us… someone to bitch at and about… and thats the truth

so when you bitch, get some fucking evidence and dont go by what you hear on the news… its commercialized just like everything else… media means shit and u bitch about what you hear… not what you know…

gas prices do not fucking fall back on bush… they fall back on the 30 hands that they go through from the time they are drilled til they hit your gastanks…

you all need gas, just like you need water… government restricts it yes… but not enough that you can cut yourself becuase bush fucked up… get something new to bitch about

last I heard, ragheads pay .25$/gallon for 100 octane

simple fact … if youve gone to alaska… which i did last summer… you wouldnt want to touch the landscape they want to drill… too fucking beautiful

Funny, the population of Alaska wants to open up ANWAR for drilling.

is that really fucking necessary? You want to talk about how the “niggers” in Nigeria pay $.38/gallon too?

My solution?

Cost of registration inversely proportionate to EPA fuel consumption figures.

50 mpg? $50.
10 mpg? $1000.

We’d see 700cc cars within three years.

Something tells me that that solution isn’t going to be particulary popular posted on a board for auto performance enthusiasts…

Honestly I hate this as much as the next guy, But really which one of you poor folk wouldnt sit thier earninging billions at the sake of the american citizans?

I m pretty sure if given the opportunity to do so, you’d jump right into that seat, spend your 4 years, and hop right out laughing all the way to the bank.
You probably wouldnt think to long about the citizans here.

In Bushs eyes he see’s an extra spending of 10 or so dollars every fill up for each individual buying, im sure hes not thinking that 10 bucks is alot of money to any one person, but he loves that 10 bucks coming from tens of millions of people each week.

Im just saying, seriously, Run for office, get more involved, do something about it, instead of getting drunk and rambleing on, over, and over again.

Yes we all hate it, but a few of you are Very educated people who could easily devise a plan, and rectify the situation, somehow.

I believe that there should be restrictions on MPG. There is no good fucking reason why a soccer mom has to drive her H2 Hummer around getting 8 miles to the gallon. You can fit just as many groceries into a GTP.

fighting poverty > driving fast

Me.

I’ve been around wealthy people, and I want no part of it. Don’t get me wrong: I’d be happy with more money than I have now, but I don’t want excessive wealth. People don’t treat you the same. I’d rather spend the one life I have as a member of a community than as someone whose relationships are tainted with envy, jealousy, and disgust.

If I made $398 million dollars, I’d keep a couple million of it and use the rest to set up scholarships, create jobs in depressed areas, etc…

well said

im not trying to russle feathers but thats what most “poor” people would say, myself included,

just like a fat ugly dude saying hes waiting fir love to fu@k. IMO

Is that in RON, MON, or R+M/2?

even if they really didnt intentionally manipulate policy to get these high prices, they sure as shit havent done anything to fix the problem.

ShalerPunk, no offense, but seems you’re being very naively idealistic here. I really hate drawn out political debates on the internet…that said, seems to be that you value “equality” over “personal liberty”. I feel the exact opposite, furthermore, I don’t like giving the government control over MORE functions of citizens lives- what the government gives, they can take away. Imagine a state where the government controlled all fuel distribution, and you had to justify to them why you needed fuel before they’d give it to you? Be a great way to restrict travel…and before anyone flames me, it CAN happen here. Hell, the USA PATRIOT Act and other actions by our current administration (undiclosed, unwarranted wiretapping of citizen’s calls) are already steps in the wrong direction.

even if they really didnt intentionally manipulate policy to get these high prices, they sure as shit havent done anything to fix the problem.

I agree with that totally. The federal government really needs to regulate the oil companies. They should also divert a little bit of funding into developing new energy resources…and while you all seem to disagree, opening up ANWAR would certainly not HURT while simultaneously building Alaska’s economy.

“Personal liberty” is a phrase used to justify the existence of the working poor.
