Always good progress to get the motor in
all that room up front, wanna borrow my turbo kit? hehe.
back to rochester? Do you accept visitors? haha…
Honestly, no, not to my house, unless I know you. I’ll have the car out occasionally over the summer with PA temp tags on it on the street and I’ll be doing XDC at Dunn Tire and a few days at Watkins Glen.
I understand, I’m pretty cool IRL though .
Finally all moved in. Started working on the car again today, got all the front end wiring laid out, wiring diagrams drawn up, and ready to go. Tomorrow I’ll wire up most of the chassis side stuff.
Also worked on gutting the doors for nascar bars. Removed the glass, tracks, regulators, latches, etc so it was a bare shell, then cut a large portion of the inner skin out for the door bars, added weatherstripping (looks a bit wavy in the photos, hadn’t used any adhesive yet), modified the door latch mech so it can no longer lock and put it all back together. Just need to get some nylon for a strap for the inner door pull.
how light can you get this beast?
bonus points for finished car weighing less than my E30.
Honestly, I have no idea, I’m not really concerned with the weight due to the power and the fact that I’m not going to be gunning for the ultimate lap times with this car. I even put metal fenders on it and have the carbon ones in a box as spares.
I’ll probably weigh it in the next week or two to get an idea of where it’s at.
The door locks on this thing are retarded and freak out randomly, so I knocked the locks out of the latch mechanism.
Gutted driver’s door.
Placed the radiator so I could mock up mounts for it. Also continued moving on the wiring. Should be done wiring the chassis this weekend.
I also picked up a second fuel pump assembly to put in the driver’s side (after modifying it a bit) and run twin pumps.
Recovered (thicker/more padding and black instead alcantara of grey) M3 Comp steering wheel. Going to make two small adapters this week to run a quick release on it.
 i love this so much
motor looks a little lonely
Won’t even come close to fitting under the hood, that is useless to me. I’d rather go stock. However, I’ve got something I’m working on that isn’t a stock intake
Mounted the Racepak today. Tomorrow going to mount the radiator, transmission, finish the quick release for the stock wheel, and continue on wiring.
that racepak is dope sauce along with the steering wheel
You got a racepak dash? Baller! I’m still waiting for a smartwire unit for the FSAE car.
Yeah, I had an IQ3 non data in the 350z, went with the datalogging unit for this.
Small shit today,
Put the racepak in
Trans mount installed
Hazard/Parking/Low Beam/High Beam wiring done on driver’s side. *Sadly I dont have any of the sweet Raychem 4-1 shit around, so while the harness body is done with the fire resistant stuff, the connectors are not. *Oh well. *Gonna keep knocking away at the wiring, and I need to build long tubes too ASAP.
How much do you need?
Too late, but thanks anyway. I don’t feel like taking the connectors apart again.
Been away on vacation and taking care of some family stuff over the past few weeks. *Finally getting back to work on this. *Finished up the rear of the wiring harness today (forgot photos) and fitted the plastic header mockups. *Passanger’s side fits perfectly, just need to extend the pipes a bit for the collector. *Driver’s side needs a rework, basically just moving the pipe for runner 2 down and towards the block a bit, and then putting 3 partially in the space that 2 occupied and 4 in the space that 3 occupied. *Should have that completed tonight.
Fuck.
Those look fantastic. I need a set.
