Gutted the e46 stock harness for connectors I needed. Then I routed about 80% of the new harness, temporarily mounted the fuse panel on the pass side of the dash and installed the stock grommets on the new harness.

Switch panel fits just about perfectly, with trim it should be great. I also ordered enough Raychem fire retardant heat shrink to do the engine harness and the engine bay area of the body harness.

Edited to cover up the sweet double post, guess the server isn’t fixed yet.

Great work!

Switch panel looks like it fits perfectly

I am pretty stoked on this.

Me too. Just excited to be driving again.

Put a new windage tray on, as well as the Holley LS retrofit pickup.

Holley LS retro pan. It’s a really nice cast piece that is reasonably priced and has great clearance for a rear sump pan… that being said. It fits like shit. I had to enlarge 3 of the holes and play with the fitment on the pickup as it was interfering with the pan mounting. Now I don’t know if that’s because I’m running a Melling pump with an LS3, or if it’s just the way it is cast. But I was a bit annoyed.

Quicktime SFI bell housing + Jerico 4 Speed dogbox. Amusingly you can see the two piles of hardware that came with the bell housing in the background. Neither of them are the proper size for the prethreaded holes in the transmissions for the T10 flange. Pretty stupid IMO. Tomorrow I’m going to drop the engine off the stand, mount the trans to it, and set everything into the bay so I can measure up to make mounts and go from there. And my raychem showed up today, so I should be able to get back to work on the harnesses.

Pulling yet more shit off, I can’t help but feel this is going in the wrong direction… hahaha.

Engine and trans bolted together.

Set the motor and trans in, took the required measurements so I can draw up motor mounts. Going to complete those in solidworks today and hopefully have a set in hand by the end of the week.

Going to go nuts on headers, or shorties, or just use cast truck manifolds for the time being until someone gets off their ass and finishes the swap headers?

Long tubes, maybe burns collectors if I have the coin, definitely V band flanged with (more than likely) a single muffler/resonator, twin exits over the rear diffuser.

This is one of those builds where I wish I could fast forward to the end right now!

How do you shift the dog box?

You and me both! It’s a side shifter, I just don’t have it installed right now. You can set it up for sequential shifting, vgate, H4, or Air. Lots of options. I originally ordered Sequential ratchet setup, but it didn’t turn out the way I wanted so I am going with a traditional H4.

Motor mounts cut, using energy suspension bushings for dampers in the tube. Cory is welding them for me, should have them Wednesday… then I’m moving over the following 6 days (4 trips, 2000+ miles total). Soooo don’t expect updates till March.

see how fast and easy it was to just make your own motor mounts :stuck_out_tongue:

they look good.

I didn’t build them. Just did the measuring and solidworks file, then sent it to someone and paid to have them made.

very nice mike. if long tubes become an issue i’d recommend going with a corvette manifold. they hug the block well and will give you some decent room.

Pat, I’ll definitely end up with something in stainless and close to equal length, even if they are a bit shorter than full long tubes due to space constraints. But I suspect I’ll figure out how to make some full length headers work.

Installed. As you can see I need to trim the heat shield around the brake booster and then get really creative with runner placement for the long tubes on the driver’s side. Haven’t done a trans mount yet either, so the transmissions is just tied up in place while I move the car with me back up to Rochester. Tons of room in front of the motor though!

when you get settled in and have time to work on this more i would like to stop out and check it out if you dont mind.

6.2L…I love it…

Great build. Keep up the good work!
