Getting a new camera

I’m pretty much decided on this camera:

Just want others input. I want an easy to use camera but one that has the ability to fine-tune/mess around with more advanced features. Must have an optical viewfinder.

 to Nikon.

wow that was a fast reply. Are you stalking me :snky:

I just got my D40X and LOVE IT!!! Nikon = best IMO…canon is 2nd.

Meh just randomly popped up haha.

what about memory card speed, the one i want comes with a regular 2GB card, is it worth it to upgrade to one of the “faster” cards?

faster cards usually are used for cameras that have movie capability. If yours does, and if you plan on recording movies…yes, get it. 150X card prices are coming down so it’s worth the trouble to get one. 2Gb is more than enough for 500+ pics at max res.

probably won’t use the video function that often, i’ll go with the 2GB freebie

Yeah that sounds about right, I’ve been using RAW for alot of my shots lately.

I am a pretty big fan of my new Cannon.

Basically unprocessed shots, that allow you to edit/process the photo the way you want it when loading it into a program.

Heres the wiki for more info: Raw image format - Wikipedia

I really like playing with it. Also I enjoy how most Nikons allow Raw+ JPEG.

i would just set camera to highest setting before “RAW”…
