Getting the 240SX on the road... classic dilemma.

if he transferred the car into his name without a safety, as he said he did then it will say “PAS-UNF” at the top, which means it’s unfit for the road and needs a safety to be allowed to be driven on the road. if you walk into an MTO with a PAS-UNF title they won’t let you have a temp permit, simple as that.

when you transfer a car into your name without proof of a safety being done within 36 days prior to you putting it in your name, it gets a PAS-UNF title, regardless of the condition of the car.

PAS-UNF means passenger vehicle, unfit for road use.

PAS-FIT means passenger vehicle, fit for road use.

i actually have 2 ownerships for 240sx’s on the desk in front of me, one is PAS-FIT one is PAS-UNF.

anything you have a question about?

Read the thread man, even before simplemind covered it again, I already went over it.

Man, the government is retarded. You need a trip permit to get a safety but you need a safety to get a trip permit. Christ. Looks like I’ll be sneaking out at 3 am to drop my car off at a shop with no plates. I’ll have insurance though which is key.

Just slap another plate on it and drive it. Its windsor man. I did it for like 6 fricken months.

I have parents who will shit a brick if I did that. Trust me, I want to.

call a place where you want the work done and ask them to pick it up because of your situation… most shops are willing to work with you. That way you dont need your insurance because their dealer plate insures that car and the unfit doesn’t matter at all as well.

i’m pretty sure you need a fit title to throw a dealer plate on something as well… though any shop i’ve worked at or been to doesn’t really follow that rule since most people think you don’t. i may be wrong on that one but i believe you do. if i didn’t have to go out right now i’d look it up in the HTA to make sure.
