Its not “better”, but rather than call vw out on having a timing belt problem please address the issue that there water pumps seize after 100k or soo… but the service is at 80k soo just as long as you do your maintenance your fine…
but once again, vw’s are the only company who has timing belts, water pumps, wheel bearings, and any other item that was mentioned soo I can see why every other product is superior because of the lack of these unnecessary items…

there is no way you have been in any imports recently unless you were in them with your eyes closed. I am in and out of every make and model car all day. its what i do for a living so my arguement holds a lot more water than yours. have you seen a honda element before in your life? notice all the plastic on the outside thats not even painted?? go get in almost any foreign car thats compares to the same gm category and you will find the same thing
your right there because our service department fixes more seals/gaskets/little stuff than it does engines, trannies, axles etc. its the little stuff that breaks, usually not the big stuff
This isn’t even a large, difficult, or dangerous problem why was it mentioned. This would be equal to your differential cover leaking, or a Honda transmission seal leaking.
At least GM is offering to fix it.
Its weird everyone talks about interior and I’m sure the interior in my vette is better then the interior in my friends m3 which is the same year.

Plain and simple when you are the numberone auto manufacturer in the world you are going to have a higher number of problems. It’s probability. It’s simply a numbers game. GM produces more vehciles than any other manufacturer.
I personally woudln’t look at one single incident as grounds for a recall. However GM realizes the implication of such a problem on some of their best selling models currently and want to nip it in the bud.
Every pinion seal on every axle on every GM car leaks. It just happens. I have never seen someone sieze one up. It takes a long time for that to happen. So for the fact that they are taking care of it now shows good faith in my eyes in the company and their product.
At the end of the day, the parts were designed by humans. The cars were assembled by humans. The cars are driven by humans. No one is perfect and there will always be human error.
