The topic of rack and pinions came up before and I was complaining about GM cutting costs. I had the rack and pinion replaced on our '96 Grand Am back in '97 or so, just recently had the intermediate steering shaft replaced on my '02 GTP, and now they just replaced it on the '05 GTP with 12,000 miles on it. Geez.
Maybe all cars have their little quirks. :dunno: Just seems like a simple and non-changing component though. It’s not like some great new design that is still being worked out.
