GM to hault Corvette Production

Ouch. Thought the Economy was strong? Wrong thread… :nono

what do ya expect to happen when all this shit is goin on a useless war ,taxes, fuel and all other bullshit goin on :idiots

and why did they stop making the vr-4 again?

No more Corvettes? :eek

…We’re headed to another Depression :ohnoes

Lack of sales. Your point?

I doubt they will just dead stop making vettes for a while…they have what, been around since 53? their not going anywhere anytime soon.

But, the current situation is pretty bad.

In the end, they need to do what’s best for their business. Detroit should be ashamed to let the Japs and other imports gain so much of a lead. That and the current economy/gas situation, is just a horrid cocktail for them.

what seriously is hurting them in the new camaro and ZL1 productions. They were both set on comming out in sometime during the 09’ season. They spent a SHITLOAD of money on those cars in which they havent hit the market yet.

Not sure the specifics on those but they spend money on non-released concept cars EVERY year. It SUCKS if they budgeted in assumed sales… Not sure how exactly they do their business.

Last I knew, the new camaro was supposed to hit sales in early 09’…So given they spent all that time/money mass producing those cars.

the ZL1 and 5th gen camaro’s arent concept cars…they have already been in mass production.

It was actually supposed to come out when the challenger did…but they put it on hault.

maybe if the rest of the product line didnt suck, chevy could afford to keep their best and most expensive car in production… just a thought

+1

They have the SSR truck which has the LS2 in it. That was supposed to be the go at fords lightening and dodge’s viper truck in the sport truck assembly…and your lucky if you see 1 of them on the road a day…hell, dealerships dont even stock them anymore

Then you have the dumb whole HHR production line…including the Turbo HHR which is a complete waist of money since its the same damn motor/turbo setup as the Cobalt SS but is ugly as shit.

They could either end the Impala line or the monte carlo line…they are pretty much the same damn thing as well.

GM cant keep up with the european/japanese car firms. its the decline of the big 3… if they spent less time creating a bunch of terrible cars, and more time on GOOD cars, they’d bein better shape…

The Chrysler group has this same shit going on. 300/Charger, Aspen/Durango, Sebring/Avenger, Liberty/Nitro, they’re all the same m-effing cars, I think all Chrysler dealerships should have C/J/D and the only vehicles with a Dodge plate should be the trucks, the Challenger and the Viper. All the rest are the same damn things as their C/J counterparts. Jeep should have all of their current products though, they’ve got a little niche with the young/kinda “hip” crowd.

Nothing new. there was an article about stopping the vipers a while back to. and i remember getting told alot, back in 05 that 2010 was the last year of corvettes.

They did stop making the Monte Carlo already.
The HHR came out about 6 years too late. Everybody that wanted an ugly POS like that already bought a PT Cruiser.
They stopped making the SSR a few years ago. Those things were ugly as fuck and completely useless. I dont know what happened to the ones they actually did manage to sell because I dont see many on the road.

Yep.

I even went with my SUZUKI SUV over a domestic SUV. The only downfall was that the resale value sucks. But, then again, so do a lot of domestics.

this also sucks for people like me who wish to own one in the near future, the value of used c5s will start to rise :angry2

I really tried to want a Chevy or a Ford a few years back when I bought my Jetta, through work we get amazing deals but there is really nothing they make that that I would choose when it costs just as much as my nice German engineered VW.

I think that’s a huge problem right there, the cars cost too much, and they aren’t anything special.

your def right, even as a chevy guy, or even a domestic guy for that matter, i really only like the trucks, vettes, camaros, mustangs, and firebirds, oh yeah and tahoes for whatever reason. If you wanted a nice sedan you would not be able to get that, the impala is OK, but its not something that i would spend the money for. I like my grand prix, it is reliable, but i would much rather go with a camry or a maxima, soemthing comparable.
