GM to hault Corvette Production

Exactly. Why would I buy a Focus for example, when I could have my Jetta?

Oh, but back to the topic of the OP: I don’t want the Corvette to go away. :sad

YEARS ago I heard about the Corvette’s production hault from my father. “They’re gonna make some rediculous 900hp crazy limited production 'vette and then they are done” Well, guess what… they made the ZR1’s again and now they’re pulling the plug. It’s what I expected.

Same reason they stopped making the Supra, didn’t sell well at the time.

True, but Kinda hard to believe now.
If i was toyota, id start making the SAME supra with minimal changes (interior) and then start selling again. noone of this supercar bullshit, that no ones gunna buy.

If you were Toyota, they’d be out of business for that same reason. The car would require several exterior changes, and the motor would likely be a V8.

i agree 100%, same goes for ford

If Toyota could make money doing that, they’d already be doing it.

Been talked about over and over, but unfortunately it wont happen. It was a very expensive car to produce.

DING DING DING.

Do people realize the Jap Supercars were like $40-$50K in the 90s? That’s a lot of dough.

Also, unlike domestics, Toyota/Honda seem to put out cars that sell so if it’s not out, there is probably a reason for it.

Which would equate to 70-80K now.

Nissan is attempting it with the GTR, but they are producing it in very low numbers. C6 Z06 vs. GTR same concept.

Yes, but the economy was much better then and fuel costs were not that much of a concern then. Different times.

You are right about the production numbers. Hell, Dodge finally dropped the Viper. It just didn’t make sense to produce anymore.

Meh… it’s not like they are completely stopping production of the car for any lengthy period of time.

yea, i was reading on uhm, yahoo? maybe, the article said theyre stopping production temporarily, laying off some workers and then resuming again, or something to that nature. im not sure on the timeframe of that though

I work for a GM part distributor/installer and its been a rollercoaster. Some months will be busy as HELL then the next DEAD. Sales have been going back up a bit with gas falling a bit

When I was looking for a car to replace my Blazer I looked at a bunch of different cars, mainly used ones.
I ended up getting a fully loaded brand new car for less than a 2 year old base model domestic POS. New my Elantra was $13,000. A Cavalier/Cobalt or Focus with power windows, locks, cd, cruise, etc was over $17k. I dont give a fuck about resale value- Ill probably drive it until it dies because Im sick of payments.

the fuckers are sittin in the rail yard, dono what the hell their waiting for…snow to fly maybe? lol

Did you even read the article?

i briefly glanced thru it

Shawn, are you High?? WTF IS HAULT

Sorry if I sound a 'lil prejudiced, but GM needs to make more cars with the value/affordability of the Cobalt SS.

The new 08/09 260 hp Turbo models have a 3-5 day turnover rate on dealer’s lots, and used 05-07 SS’s don’t hang around much longer.
