Cobalts do sell… I don’t know why… Nobody liked them when the name was Cavalier… Maybe because Cobalt sounds cooler?
The new camaro’s Pre-ordering begins 10/13…So im sure GM will be raking in a good shit load of money for that.
Well first off, the Cavi really doesn’t look anything like the 'Balt.
Secondly (and maybe most importantly) no Cavi made ever had these specs:
C/D TEST RESULTS -2008 Chevrolet Cobalt SS
0 to 60 mph: 5.7 sec
0 to 100 mph: 13.4 sec
0 to 130 mph: 24.6 sec
¼-mile: 14.2 sec @ 102 mph
Top speed: 146 mph
70–0 mph: 162 ft
skidpad: 0.92 g
EPA city/highway: 22/30 mpg
All for 23k. :nod
Honestly the Cobalt really is just another generation of the Cavalier. It doesnt take much thought to realize that.
id rather buy a used Evo. or for FWD comparison an SRT-4. especially with that sweet name you call it a " 'Balt "
yeah thats gay
I think 23k is a rip-off. My car is faster stock for stock, 3k cheaper brand new, and easier to modify. I just don’t understand the whole Cobalt following. And yes, it’s the next gen cavi.
You need to do your homework Jim, 'cause eyeryone knows that (Stock-for-Stock) the NSRT-4 is not any faster than the 08 260hp Balt SS. Really …
Also, the NSRT-4’s started out at 19.9k in 2003, but it’s base price went up after that. In 2005 (the only year both cars were produced simultaneously) the Balt SC was $21,995 and the NSRT-4 was $21,195 (base price incl dest).
That being the case, you must be saying that NSRT-4’s are a ripoff as well. Right?
And the new Balt SS’s come with Traction Control and Adjustable Suspension Control standard (only car in it’s class to do so). That’s something Dodge never offered on the NSRT-4’s. So 23k for an 08 SS is quite the performance bargain.
Lastly Jim, I’ve owned both cars. Have you? What my SS/SC has that my 'ol 04 NSRT-4 didn’t was:
- 18" wheels/tires
- an 8 year newer platform (Chrysler PL Platform/1995 vs. GM Delta Platform/2003)
- Stage kits that are factory warrantied (mod an NSRT-4 with a factory kit, and the warranty is VOID)
- Manufacturer’s Rebates
Yes, rebates. As you know Jim, Dodge doesn’t allow rebates on their SRT vehicles (not even today). I got $2500 in rebates on my SC. So that effectively drops my car’s base price from $20,975 to only $18,475.
Even if you add in my car’s as delivered Options + the Stage 2 kit, I’m still only at 20k. WOW!
Taking all that into consideration, I actually wouldn’t undersand it if there wasn’t a Cobalt SS following. ;D
Actually, your a 'lil confused here PJB. But here, let me help to clear things up …
The Cavi was based on GM’s J Platform (1982–2005), the 'Balt on their Delta Platform (2004–2010).
Both platforms were made for the same vehicle Class, but are two different animals.
See?
Let’s quit this SRT4 vs. Cobalt SS arguing… those who aren’t biased know that they are both junk :lol
Id rather drive the neon cause the turbo cobalts are nutless
either way both are a cavalier and a neon, just leave it at that guys. no bickering required.
Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding WINNAR
WOULD YOU STOP SAYING 'BALT!!
Hilarious discussion, please continue… (<–eats popcorn)
BALT!
you better pray you arent in ocean city. il have my clippers!
Getting it cut before thenanyway ;D
BALT
:rofl…
:ponder I need a haircut actually
So they changed the name of the platform. Big deal. Kinda like the Mustang going from a Fox body to Sn95.
LOLZ! I spit Dr Pepper all over my new laptop!
