Going car shopping tomorrow. Give me tips.

Going to West Herr Subaru, Autohaus and a couple others tomorrow. Give me tips. I never bought a car from a dealership before. I’m really nervous I’m going to forget to check something or ask about something and get screwed. Haha.

List things you think are important when car shopping.

look around, at several before you buy.

dont act too interested- you’ll get screwed.

don’t jump on the first price.

bring a guy with you.

out of curiosity - why going to a dealer? you can most likely find a private party selling a good car for a much better price.

unless you’re looking to get brand new. what cars are you looking at?

offer vag as a down payment.

Are you the one who said your dad is buying your car for you?

don’t buy the car tomorrow, if you really want something, post it on nyspeed before you buy it.

research, research, research, this will allow you to talk down the dealer especially on a used car where the mark ups are so high. I would not buy from a local dealer, the import market around here is slim, and the prices are rather high compared to other parts of the US

No. Daddy is not buying the car for me.

I’m going with my mom. I’d have to say she’s pretty good with these things. I wish I could bring my dad but he’ll be sleeping. He works strange hours.

I’m not sure what I want to get yet. Something newer (will be getting used though), and with a warranty (hence why dealerships.)

If a salesman is not giving you what you want, literally get out of your seat and walk straight for the door. IMO most efficient way of locking the price you are willing to pay.

 to dealers. its so much easier to go in, pick your car, have them handle ALL the work you need to get done and leave with a warranty. i’ll always buy from a dealer.

Still, bring a guy, especially one who acts dumb, but then schools the salesman when he lies.

i def agree about posting car/miles/price/etc before you buy. use nyspeed to your advantage. so many people have made threads liek this, not taken that advice, and bitched about it for years to follow, until they sold it

I’ll bring my laptop with me and post from the dealership. Hahha.

:word:

There are also a lot of people on here that work at dealerships so you could get treated better

Do you have any idea what car you want to look at? I highly disagree with going in just to browse and see what you can find because you are more apt to make a decision you will regret later.

If anything, go take a look, LEAVE, do some research and then go back when you have some hard numbers and facts. The more you know before you go to purchase the less they can screw you.

take someone with you that has sold cars before, for more than a year

best way to do it

Well, I am looking to spend around $10,000. I’m thinking Subaru, because of the AWD. A Legacy 2.5gt, or an Impreza 2.5rs. Maybe a jetta, or golf or something. Even an A4. All I know is I don’t want one that’s going to need many repairs soon. Hahah.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING until you post it here first. Otherwise you WILL get screwed. 2 females walking into a car dealership = High prices and happy sales people.

Def post a poll and base all life choices on it like a certain member…

know waht the cars are worth from kbb or edmunds.

Dont settle…

spending that much of you hard earned money should equate to what you value that money being worth.

Im not saying be ultra picky, but dont settle on anything you feel uneasy about

arent you friends with newman? take him. he knows his shit.
