dawn in all honesty, that would probably be your best bet. i realize you want the fun and security of AWD in the snow. i know you want something that would be a lot of fun to drive on a daily basis.
given your life situation that i know from what i have seen you post and what you have told me personally, i think something like a honda would suit you best. i bought an old integra for 1200 bucks. it’s ugly as sin and embarassing to drive around in. there are no redeeming aspects to owning this car…except for reliability and maintenance cost. i can not stress enough how great it is to just get in the car and drive it like normal people do. i don’t have to go out and fix my car on my lunch breaks so i can get it home from work that day now. i don’t have to factor in an extra 20 minutes on my morning commute to pull over and do a minor repair so i can get to work and school.
that car bikerfry posted will last you another 200,000 miles with a minimum amount of maintenance and cost. do what you want, but if you do something like that, you can focus on work/school and costs relating to that. once that is paid off, you can bank excess money for a bit and put money into a fun car when you have it.
i can not stress enough how much easier my life is now that i have something reliable that i’m not fixing everyday. my friend’s lives are easier too because i’m not calling them for rides all the time anymore either. ask woody, shrives, eviljay, jam, sc1chik, etc how much they like that i have a reliable car now. :lolsign:
