Going to Kenya in a month

Going on a short term missions trip to Kenya in a month. I will be close to Uganda border in a small village near Eldoret.
Figured I would start a thread for post trip pictures and get advice for travel in Africa. I got a burner wallet, ankle wallet, a new Seiko 5, 7 shots for vaccines, malaria pills, bug spray, and stacks of protein bars.

Edit: I also don’t plan to touch anyone with ebola. Not that it is a problem in that area, but I won’t take my chances.

Man, thats crazy. After being to the UK, Germany, and Italy I have no further desire to leave the country. Good luck.

My wife spent a month in Uganda last summer. It was an experience…

Stay away from the Solami boarder… these automotive forums do not negotiate with hostage takers, FYI

Take a ride in a Defender to some place remote and cool. And take pics!

Very cool  Looking forward to the pics.

Aaaauuuuuuuggggghhhh…Solami sandwich.

I would not go there for $1,000,000. You crazy man!

I have friends in Uganda and based on their adventures and stories I would not go there.

Outside of the poverty the police and gov is very corrupt

What organization is it through?

lol, damn you auto correct!

Uhm… fuck no… I’ll pass…

Going with a team from my church but the organization we are working with is:

Not my first choice as a vacation, but I know it will stretch my world perceptive. From what I am told we are like “celebrities” there and have a unique opportunity to explain why we would come to see them.
Activities at the mission include; time with orphans, prison ministry, and kids vacation bible school.

Good job Ron. My wife has been trying to get me to go a missions trip for awhile.

Ebola case reported in Texas, first case in the US.

Guess where the dude was visiting?

 for doing the trip, but seriously be careful over there.

Looks like Liberia?

I have a few t-shirts from Libera if anyone wants to roll the dice.

Good for you man. Be careful. I have friends that went on mission trips to Africa and the DR, they come back totally changed.
Amen

Why? I was born in Europe and have been back there many times. Those countries you went too aren’t even bad lol…try going to Ukraine (where I’m from). Especially the villages which are still suck in almost Soviet Era europe (little to no amenities, no hot water in the summers [village and some cities turn it off and you heat your own], no pavement anywhere, etc.) It’ll give you a whole new perspective on life and you’ll appreciate more of the ‘small things’. Same with Kenya I’m sure (my friend just got back).

Props man. God bless you and keep you safe. If you don’t mind me asking, what denomination are you (if any)? I’m Pentecostal (Slavic though). Named after Elijah (eell-i-yah in Ukrainian/Russian).
