Going on a short term missions trip to Kenya in a month. I will be close to Uganda border in a small village near Eldoret.
Figured I would start a thread for post trip pictures and get advice for travel in Africa. I got a burner wallet, ankle wallet, a new Seiko 5, 7 shots for vaccines, malaria pills, bug spray, and stacks of protein bars.
Edit: I also don’t plan to touch anyone with ebola. Not that it is a problem in that area, but I won’t take my chances.
Going with a team from my church but the organization we are working with is:
Not my first choice as a vacation, but I know it will stretch my world perceptive. From what I am told we are like “celebrities” there and have a unique opportunity to explain why we would come to see them.
Activities at the mission include; time with orphans, prison ministry, and kids vacation bible school.
Why? I was born in Europe and have been back there many times. Those countries you went too aren’t even bad lol…try going to Ukraine (where I’m from). Especially the villages which are still suck in almost Soviet Era europe (little to no amenities, no hot water in the summers [village and some cities turn it off and you heat your own], no pavement anywhere, etc.) It’ll give you a whole new perspective on life and you’ll appreciate more of the ‘small things’. Same with Kenya I’m sure (my friend just got back).
Props man. God bless you and keep you safe. If you don’t mind me asking, what denomination are you (if any)? I’m Pentecostal (Slavic though). Named after Elijah (eell-i-yah in Ukrainian/Russian).
