Golfers (Clubs Recommendation)

i spent $250 just for my clevland driver versus $350 for the taylormade r7 (felt better with the less expensive clevland) For shits n giggles i hit my old school titanium spalding driver at the range and hit 270 ish with moderate accuracy. with my new clevland launcher 460 it went 300-310 several times even with a less accurate shot. So yes the new club definately helps but mainly for those semi perfect shots. Was it worth it … i guess but i play alot so for me yes. I had my old spalding set re gripped w/ windmill grips best 60 bucks i ever spent !!! i need to sell them though.

i went with the cleveland too (xl 9.5* extra stiff), i love it. i was driving at a max 280 with my old callaway, and now i can get it 300-320 depending.

i just snatched a pair of Nike NDS w/ graphite shafts for 200 bucks off a golf pro. he bout them a little bit ago for 1400 or so… I love them.

I’m going to Dicks Saturday for swing analysis and possible fitting. The guy said I could be out the door with a set from last year for around $430 that includes club extensions, etc. I have no idea what brand I should be looking for but I was expecting $800+ so that’s not too bad.

i have a set of wilson 1200 irons and i love them. great set of clubs, great bang for your buck, the full set was $150 back when- but the driver does suck so i’d that set of irons and pick up a quality driver somewhere cheap.

Cobra S9 II Irons to me have the best feel and control. I golf a lot so dropping the money on clubs is an ok thing to do. but they really aren’t that expensive if you think about it.

i would be leary of the Dicks fitting and swing analysis. ( I am a PGA professional and Certified Fitter thru Ping, and Titleist at Wildwood Golf Club)

you shouldnt have to have to pay Dicks for the additional lie and loft changes and or extentions to the shafts. The proper way is to have the clubs ordered from the company that way.

Getting the correct fit is the most important thing. If you want I can get you in contact with my cousin who makes custom clubs. You can provide him with the heads or he buys them through one of his wholesalers. The fit makes more difference then the brand of the club in my opinion.

They look alright for what I’ll be doing.

Those look like some nice clubs but I on the other hand don’t golf alot so it would be foolish of me to drop extra loot if they end up collecting dust.

I am also questioning Dick’s expertise but the guy Gene said they have an in-house PGA pro by the name of Dave? I just stopped in last night to grab some hockey tape so I figured to check it out there. I guess I’m intimidated by all these big time specialty golf shops around. I understand some of that terminology from playing hockey but like some people I’ve only played with 20+ year old clubs so anything is an upgrade. I don’t know what difference it would make on my golf stroke. I suck at driving while my short game is pretty solid even with shitty clubs. It’s all in the hips…

that sounds so far above me…I’ll see what they have to say about my swing and go from there lol

As long as I have this golf bag I don’t care what clubs are in it…

that beer disperser is badass !!! i usually just put a flask in my cooler designed section of my bag

that beer dispenser pump breaks and it is worthless

So I’m looking at around $430 with 2" extensions in the irons. Leaning towards a cheap starter set like these Maxfli’s at Dick’s.

dude are you really sure you need 2" extensions??? That is almost unherd of Unless your 7 foot tall or wrist to ground measurement is more than 38" they fitted you incorrectly. The more important thing is your Lie angle what did they say about that? surely because of the extensions they are changing your Lie angle…right???

Well, I’m close to that tall haha. and yes, the lie angle he said would change with the extensions but even if they were factory ordered they wouldn’t make the degree of lie i would need, so stick with normal clubs and ultimately they would cancel eachother out.

yeah. Be_rad is 7’

ok like i said, if your tall then that is no problem. Honestly the guy has NFC what he is talking about when he is saying the lie angles will cancell out with the extra length. Me thinks he is just trying to make a sale, instead of actually helping you
