this is an update for anyone. Bing called me last night at around 12:30 when i was at renas bday party.
He had just arrived in montreal. He called to inform me he had just recieved 4 tickets during a 7 hour drive from st.catharines to montreal. 2 while still in canada. the other 2 in montreal.
Failure to show front place
Non legeble rear plate
Failure to stop at a stoplight (apparently the traffic cop was directing and he could not understand his french)
Non Legeble rear plate (even though the officer in ontario cleaned his plate)
Lets see how he fairs on the way home
bing<RCMP
Tell him i miss him and i’m thinking of him.
haha alright man i can do that. What do you miss most about him?
His smile.
And the way he held me during thunderstorms.
God i hope it doesnt rain this weekend.
wow so gay.
and i told bing he was gonna get in shit for that plate.
silly bing.
GT
yeah bing had it coming.
Andrew.
His smile.

Driving to Montreal is always a bad idea. In any car.
I lasted many years without a front plate, but my car didnt stand out as much either.
yeah i deserved each and every one of the tickets, but i will still be fighting all of them and i will still be showing up in Montreal when the court date arrives… even if just to prove a point about how important it is to fight every ticket you ever get.
the weekend was eventful, i’ll update in the morning tomorrow, i just in and i have even really looked at these tickets yet…lol
i didnt get any more on the way back but there were at least 7 cops in the first 2 hours on the 401 coming back from the Grand Prix.
HAHAHAHAAH
^^ I also thought that was pretty funny…
Alrighty,
Frig am I tired, but yeah, I’m back at work this morning.
The F1 was pretty cool but I was hoping for more. We were supposed to be in a private box with Labatt’s / Budweiser but we never even went to it. If I were actually into the consumption of alcohol perhaps the weekend would have been different, instead I was with 11 dudes with access to unlimited free alcohol so I am sure you kinda see where this is going…
First off, F1 cars >>> any other cars on earth. The sound is soooo amazing, just close your eyes and let it slowly erode your hearing.
The Ferrari Challenge paddock area was littered with F430’s and Modena’s, btw I didn’t bring my camera because my cousin had his, but yeah I am certain that the majority of the F430’s belong to the same core group of buyers. At least 30+ F430’s in the paddock area owned by the teams and then a couple more on the streets owned by locals.
But really, aside from that, the F1 is a pretty ghey event.
When compared to some other big events I have been to the F1 is just very lack luster, there is nothing to do when the F1 cars are not on the track and even when they are, no matter where you are, its just the sound that attracts… seeing the cars at one particular turn for a few hours on some of the hottest days of the year loses its appeal after about 4 laps.
There is nothing else to do at the venue either.
When you go to the Indy in Toronto there are food festivals, car shows, model contests, group sports, rock climbing, driver and celebrity autograph sessions, real champ cars taken apart, you can walk right through the team areas and the whole event is crammed into 2 squared km’s.
At the F1 the event is spread over like 7km’s and there is about 1/10th of the total attractions. In fact, the food was horrible it was the same 4 boths scattered throughout the park, water was $3.75 per bottle fyi, there were no car shows, no bikini contests of models (just the Budweiser girls, they were naaace but I’d rather hang out with my lil sister’s friends) no autograph sessions that I was aware of and I couldn’t find the F1 paddock, not sure if it was there or not… I walked for over an hour around the place and didn’t find much actually.
Honda had a tent with just new cars and Telus had some junk set up, there were some horses too. There was a section of the race at the end of Casino Straight that I couldn’t get too, because it was 3 km’s away and it doesn’t even make any sense to walk that far. Maybe the F1 paddock was there, it probably was.
The best part about being there with Labatt’s was the party on Saturday night. It was at a club called Pino and it was in the best location of any club that night. We were on the second floor right at the corner of Maisonneuve and Crescent st. right outside the balcony was the intersection with a huge stage set up. There were thousands of people in the streets it was a huge.
Again, free alcohol which didn’t do me any good, yay for $5 red bulls…lol, but the food was fantastic… and free…
Excellent sushi, top notch fruit plates, cakes, etc. etc. lots of hot servers and bartenders.
We were there for hours, then had to take some of the drunkards with us back to the hotel… like 7 km’s away…or further… we didn’t even make it all the way there…
But walking several blocks from Crescent it became apparent just how big this event was. Maybe 10 blocks down from crescent the street was shut down for a huge outdoor fashion show where the runway ended at a live band… it was pretty sweet.
On Peel st. some sort of Ferrari club was showing off their cars, that street was shut down for them as well…. To be honest there was nothing that special there… it was like no one had seen a lotus elise before.
The biggest disappointment by far were the strip clubs. I’ve heard fantastic things about them and every single one of them was dead wrong.
We went into two of them, the first one we walked out of before paying the $10 cover because it looked like a hole… the next one was just as bad looking but we decided to stay rather than search for another one…
Honestly, niagara falls is 213442325 times better than montreal for strip clubs. The Sundowner is not even comparable to these places… every single girl at the downer is better than the top girls in montreal… in fact a lot of montreal girls come down here to work, montreal is cheaper… but it has to be.
I’ll post some of my cousins pics…
If any of you guys were downtown on Saturday and heard the really really loud chanting on the subway or along the streets or when we shut down some of the retail stores… that was us…lol… it was probably one of the most hilarious things I’ve been a part off…
When 12 guys stat chanting GO LEAFS GO on the busiest weekend of the year in downtown montreal…… I guess you can imagine what happens… then we switched the chant to MONTREAL and had entire subway cars chanting with us… then we walked into stores on the street and shut the places down temporarily…lol… oh man… we’ve got pics but no video of that.
Cliffs:
meh
Forgot to mention,
Early afternoon yesterday Haig Kanadjain called me up and said that Drift Tech was having a drift practice at St. Eustache…
My cousin and I hit it up before heading back home… it was pretty cool, I was surprised that some people recognized me. Saw one dude that was from St. Catharines. We got some pics of that too. Some really serious cars there… every one trailers their cars in. we had to leave just as Marco was bringing in his G35 coupe.
Then on the way home, I destroyed a 911 Carrera Cabrio on the 401… top of forth and I was pulling, letting the bov go, pulling again…he started it.
Bing, I’ve got an ass-load of pics from the weekend and I’ll post them up as soon as I re-size them. I’ts too bad I didn’t know you were going or I would have looked out for you. I’m sorry that you had a lousy time…the problem with F1 is if you don’t have a million dollars you dont get to do much of the behind the scenes stuff.
F1 and CART/INDY are worlds appart when it comes to crowds and status. There’s so much money involved in F1 it’s just stupid. F1 events are geared toward rich dudes and CART is for broke asses like me. shit, I’m sure you saw all the big money players around Montreal all weekend.
I don’t have a millon dollars but my fiancee works for a sports hospitality company who hosts the big party under the main tent on the start-finish line (see me get in for free). Along with the private parties they throw that’s where the fun is had. We got to meet all the drivers and I have some pics of Michael Shumacher hugging my fiancee…I’m gonna frame that s*it.
I fully agree. As a stand alone event the Molson Indy is a much better experience. Finally, I don’t care where you are. Dollar for Dollar you can’t beat the 'Downer.
yeah i got that impression, you could tell that the real ballers knew where not to be and that is where pretty much everyone else was.
one of the crazier things was that i actually ran into people i knew there…
i was walking along and all of a sudden:
“Bing”
i look over, its some dude with a grip of facial hair… i must have had a blank look on my face…
“it’s me Evan”
“oh shit dude…lol”
Evan = Nave on NEO / SON… it was pretty funny.
