Anyone know of a good mechanic in Edmonton that isnt gunna rape me, and actually knows what they are doing?
My '95 240sx has a small oil leak and im too lazy to check things out so yeah… any suggestions?
every mechanic knows what their doing. They are certified. And most shops charge almost the same shop rate because a program (I believe its mitchell) has the approximate amount of time it takes to repair the leak. As for finding whats wrong, I believe you get billed for 1 hour. I’m not 100% sure how much the average shop rate is these days, because my car never goes anywhere but my garage or a buddies garage to get fixed.
go to a drive-thru oil change place like mr lube or lube city. they should be able to tell you where the leak is coming from AND change your oil for like $25.
or you could pay a mechanic $100 for an hour labour just to tell you whats leaking.
certification doesn’t always mean they know what they’re doing. sometimes they just use a computer to look up symptoms for diagnosis and turn their brains off.
lots of forum-mechanics (like people on here) are smarter and better at diagnosing than a mechanic might be. some mechanics are smart, and some just suck. saying this from personal experience with a bad mechanic who wouldn’t listen.
obviously something like a small oil leak is no-brainer… just venting.
