Oh what a cute state this is.
+1. He should be cutting spending and using some of his tax proposals, not just tax the death out of everything. Taxing things like hair cuts is absurd. Here’s another pair of great ideas, lets take away from the one thing that this state has going for itself, then education system. On top of that lets raise tuition on those who have the least amount of money as it is, college students.
Front page of the drudge report.
LOL at the Ipod tax…
Looks like the fedex guy will be visiting me every day from here on out. My internet non taxed purchases are going through the roof.
He is a typical Democrat. Instead of trying to salve the problems, he is going to tax the fuck out of everybody and throw more money at them and hope they go away.
like burt’s bee’s hand salve? then are problems would go away in a couple of days.
NY sucks. this shit is gay
no, to me it reads the the people writing the article didn’t realize that the over $110 category is no longer taxed.
i’d like to think it’s pretty obvious that if there is a tax on clothing it will be on luxury items first, but in this case I’ll speculate that it will be on all items if he gets his way.
another thing I was thinking about. if you repeal STAR, you increase the chances of more people defaulting on their loans which is a little counterproductive.
FYI: only the star rebate check is in jeopardy the star deduction is NOT effected!!!
add the taxes to the shittyness of the area, combind with the high gas prices and top it all off with ridiculous insurance rates. Another state is looking really really good.
WTF does that have to do with poor people? I do not buy clothes that are over $110 at a time, if I did I would buy something and come back in the store and buy something else. Saves ya $10, enough to get a Orange Mocha Frappachino.
Edit: Wait, clotes and sneaks are exempt under $110??? Thats not true, I bought some clothes the other day and payed taxes. I must not get it, I ahve been drinking.
he tried to cut spending. the republicans in the senate said no. he has to close the budget gap by law. how the fuck else do you do that?
↑ I cant hear u, como what?
UM, am I reading this wrong?
Democrats take control of NY Senate
November 05, 2008
NEW YORK (AP) – Democrats have won a majority in New York’s Senate to give the party control of the full Legislature and governor’s office for the first time since 1935.
Democrats, who outnumber Republicans by a nearly 2:1 ratio statewide, ended more than 40 years of GOP rule in the Senate thanks in part to the enthusiasm fueled by Barack Obama’s historic presidential campaign.
democrats won at least 32 seats in the 62-seat chamber. They trailed 31-29 with two vacancies going into Tuesday.
Thats what I was getting at. Someone kept talking to me at work while I was typing that. So it’s not to clear…:picard:
The only plcae I know that you can get clothes tax exempt on items under $110 is in NYC and thats it… So who really gives a crap around here about it…
DIDNT HAPPEN YET
QFT
 good read
I bet you’re regretting not moving to AZ :\ I feel bad for the home owners that are somewhat attached to this region
by increasing spending? :mamoru: I cant seem to find any sources to back your statement up… what did he propose that got shot down? Hell, this proposed budget hasn’t even passed yet… Everything I can find put them against pattersons spending/tax increases. Not saying that you’re wrong, but it would be nice to know who NOT to elect
Ok, I brain farted there for a second.
But still, did EVERY republican down the tax cuts. Its pretty impossible to get every person of any party to get on board anything. I doubt EVERY democrat voted for the cuts, or even a majority of them.

Paterson tried to address this problem over a month ago. It was completely ass backwards, with the democrat proposing spending cuts to health care and education and the republicans refusing them. The Republican senate majority leader decided to play hardball and bring the draft version of the bill to a vote, which wasn’t even complete yet, effectively ending debate and construction and shooting it down. No one could possibly vote for it in that form and he knew that.
Blame the goofy black blind guy all you want, but Dean Skelos et al are the ones who brought this on. Skelos cut a deal with the teachers’ unions right before the election, when this all went down, that basically said he promised to veto any legislation that included cuts to education in return for them endorsing all of the Republicans in a last-ditch effort to keep control of the senate. Didn’t work, but still fucked our budget.

wait… but in his proposed budget
A 3.3%, or $698 million, reduction in school aid.
$3.5 billion in health care savings, including reductions in payments to hospitals and nursing homes
so he’s doing it anyway?
Paterson’s plan for midyear cuts in school aid growth, health care and other areas faced fierce opposition from Albany’s most powerful lobbying forces, led by teachers and other public employee unions. Outside the Capitol, more than 1,000 demonstrators marched in the cold to protest Paterson’s proposals.
hmmmm… last time I checked, those were heavily democratic groups
and Skelos is a dipshit… this is not the situation to use as political leverage. I will give you that
