NY is a “NO FAULT STATE” which means that the cops will NEVER assign a fault. Its up to the lawyers and insurance companies to decide that. It sucks but that’s the way it is. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, but atleast you and your Jeep are okay.

not completely true… I’ve gotten hit a few times here in NY where they have DEFENETLY assigned fault to the other person right there at the scene. twice for following too close for conditions (Got rear-ended when I stopped and they didn’t), and one similar to this where they pulled out infront of me and I caught their rear corner.
Sucks that the cop was a prick, but it sounds like he wasn’t doing his job with checking everything, didn’t want to deal with it, and you just pissing him off with the osifer stuff…
