So not even a step but an uneven one at that… yeah, that’s not too great. Must have had an apprentice on the controls… Post some pics of it when you get it back, I am interested to see how it compares.[/quote]
The step wasn’t what caught my eye, it was the bad cutting job. Notice the “swirl” marks, it looks as though you could run your finger accross them and feel a bit of a washboard. This is usually caused by bad carbide tips in the fly cutter (I hope he is using carbide), or just spinning the rotator too fast. I hope he spent a little more time on it today.
You should really almost see your reflection in it, or atleast a basic sillouette.
See, now those pics look exactly the same as the first ones… hard to tell if there is a step there based on just the pics is my point. As long as you can’t FEEL the machining marks it makes no real difference. Sure, smoother is better I suppose, but it’s a stock application not a 1000hp drag car.
why does it look sooo rough? Its like the cutting bit used was very coarse or the speed was way too low or something. I’m not a machinist by any means but if you look at jantoses vs yours yours looks like its gonna rape someones mom where as jantos’ looks like its as smooth as a babys bottom (most likely similar to the bottoms jantos touches on various occassions)
