grand am brakes ?

I did a set of pads on a 99 grand am, all went well, test drive was perfect. 2 days later she called me saying there is a knocking sound when braking. the brakes work perfectly but there is a ticking/knowcking sound, not loud under hard braking. any idea what this could be???

while putting the driver side caliper back on, I notice that the lil clip popped out. I put it back in and it was fine during the test drive rigth after the brakes were installed. any idea what this clip exactly does and if this could be my problem. maybe I installed the clip backwards???

LMK any ideas

It’s the pads shifting back and forth, you need to make sure the clips are in, and you need to put some caliper grease on them as well (but don’t get any on the rotors)

well on those cars the inner and outter pads are different and could probley cause ur problem…if you look at the pads you will see that the tabs on the top of them are taller on on 2 of the 4 pads…the tall tab has to be on the inside(piston side) it this isnt ur problem let me know… jeff
