My dad has a 00 Grand Cherokee w. the i6. It doesn’t heat up. Like the gauge gets up there but it takes forever. In the past month he’s replaced the heater core, thermostat, (twice) and water pump. Still doesn’t heat up. Any ideas?
Maybe there is an air pocket trapped somewhere
:word: go that route first. Make sure you bleed the system correctly
Along those lines, what about a slightly blown head gasket?
the only other thing that might even be possible is the valve that opens up the fluid to the heater core isn’t opening all the way.
Assuming this is just an issue with the heat: bad air proportioning valve, clogged hose. I think you need to determine if the heater core is actually getting hot or not, then go from there.
If its a system wide issue, at this point I would be leaning towards either an air pocket, or more likely a clogged cooling system passage somewhere. Does it boil coolant when it does eventually get hot? Has it ever before…?
Its been a long time since i touched one of those but i recall tham being a pain in the ass to bleed
Just bleed it by running the car with the rad cap off till it starts to get hot, all the bubbles should come out, at least that was how I did it on my hondas.
blendoor stuck in the wrong position?
http://www.wjjeeps.com/hvac_sub_assembly.htm that should help, I replaced mine a few months ago with a used one(neighbor had it) and it just failed again. The plastic bar that goes into the actuator motor is extremely weak. I just ordered the aluminum replacement off ebay for roughly $100 shipped. There’s two ways to replace, the first would be to take apart your dash and do it the right way. The other is to pull the gb and remove the actuator then cut through the vent walls and re-seal the vent walls where you cut.

I seam to recall the upper hose was higher than the cap. there should be a bleed valve at the highest point of the cooling system. Can you tell if the engine itself is getting hot?
vacuum filling/high lift makes it easy. try to bleed out a water cooled porsche without one
