Grip or Drift - Time Attack events?

A good way of ballancing out between the low and high hp cars, etc, is to go with the tight windy autocross style track, keeps the parts where a high hp car has a distinct advantage over a lower hp car down… It comes more to driver skill and car setup than a raw numbers game.

Exactly.
solo 1 requires a full season commitment.
a single time attack event and encourage a lot of high end shops to bring out cars as well as the fastest of the fast from everywhere else, INCLUDING solo 1.
It would be simple to get sponsors out and prizes are easy to take car of.
If i can get something sorted out right i think it will be a ton of fun

If all goes as planned these guys (http://www.redlinetimeattack.com/) should be making a trip up here to quebec (june-ish) to host an event. For those looking to run an event like this come out and have a look and take some tips. These guys are arguably the largest growing sport compact event in the US right now.

I agree that Solo 1 is very close to a Time Attack but as mentioned the rules are more strict. The way these guys run the events is unlimited, modified and street classes so that ppl with lower hp cars can compete against other while the big boys play on their own field.

Its pretty damn exciting stuff but it may be a stretch for the canadian market as there are very few people/shops with cars built to do exactly this. Its worth a try though.

yeah, in my opinion most people here aren’t fans of rules, including my self, i just want to go out there and have at it and enjoy the car i don’t really care for rules classes, winning losing etc

hi Guys,

#1… we do have a time attack series its called solo 1.
#2= you dont have to do a full season…you can come to 1 event, 2 3, 4, or all 9…
#3 100% the solo 1 rules are BY FAR the best rules in north america at present…meaning they are fair.
#4 with the redline time attack series…which some of us solo 1 guys will be going to in quebec… the rules are absolutely ridiculous…meaning any of you guys who show up will 100% not be competitive…and get devestated…how fun is that…

my car with the LS1 is in the modified class…how fair is that gonna be against ricer street setup cars? not very fair at all…

I am 100% not sure why “time attack” gets everyone all interested…while solo 1 (solo sprint) does not? they are very simular…in that you can run whatever you want…except that solo 1 is established 100% competitive, and fully organized with a very fair rule set…

anyway i might truck out to the redline event since our HADA club sponsor is running it…but is going to be very silly event IMO…the rules are just nutty.

can i ask how the rules are “strict” ? you can run anything from a firefly to an open wheel f2000 if you want…

what you mean is the rules are FAIR…

guys 100% if any of the local racers come out to this “redline time attack” no one coming in off the street has a chance…that I can Gaurentee you…the rules are so lacking its just stupid…

case in point my LS1 powered s13 will be in modified class…which most of the cars will be in… have fun against it…its just a very simple…not fair set of rules…

here are the modified rules…
