your still going to need good references and take a course and stuff like that tho. You have to live in that county also, you cant just go to another county and apply for a permit.
Also doesn’t bruise your shoulder if you’re a little girly man like me!
If I were to buy a gun I’d probably get, what the hell was it, don’t know if it’s even made anymore. Anyhow it was a Colt semi-auto pistol, .22 caliber, 10 shot clip. What a fun little plinker.
just bought a house in catt but have not changed adress yet so if it was easer i was going to keep erie adress… and i have references so i should be fine
jim im also a girly man … a .20 hurts me :gotme:
yeah the permit is only for where you currently reside.
Ive had my kel-tec 9mm for a few years now and really cant say anything bad about it. For the price ya cant beat it. Mine is a p-11 and i think i bought it onsale for $280.00.
.45 > .357 Me like big (bullet) holes.
TRUTH
Nothing beats a 12g for home defense. Get a .22LR for fun, and get a Remington 870 for if the shit hits the fan.
That long stock could get a bit cumbersome in a small room or hallway. I like a no-shoulder pistol grip.
that was originally the plan but in all reality, i’ve never had an intruder and id be hesitant to ever pull a gun on somebody, its just piece of mind. That being said, that is why my house and garage are alarmed. I dont see a shotgun being as much fun to shoot as a carbine at the range.
+1,000,000,000 for FRY.
you need to go do some shooting with guys who have plenty of experience. Myself, J&J and some of my friends (who are cops) go shooting quite a bit and your welcome to come. I have been around guns since I was able to hold one and so have the people I shoot with. Granted if someone did try to harm my wife or me I would be more than willing to drop them but like FRY said, that should be a last resort.
Don’t buy a gun because it’s “cool”. Buy one you like and will be comfortable shooting. My first gun was a .22 that had an 8 round clip, removable barrel (survival gun for hikers/campers) and could shoot all day without jamming. I was 14 or 15 and I loved it because it was fun, not because it was “cool”.
Ive paid for my pistol permit, just havent taken it yet. I have my eye on a glock 23 .40 cal. Int he mean time, I do want a pump shot gun for home protection.
Springfield Armory XD-45…
That was my first gun.
XD-45 is nice. I had a hard time picking between the 1911 and the H+K. I ended up getting the .45 Heckler and Koch. It freakin rocks too, smooth as silk and deadly accurate.
what are the laws regarding shotguns and pistol grips in NYS?
i thought there were a few restrictions
I listened to quite extensive show on using firearms for home protection…
I guess home owners that used more exotic ammo/guns against criminals were facing legal issues and the recommendation has been using the same gun/ammo combination as the police…
I will try to dig up the article/show
Stupid lawyers
ehh, can’t say i agree with this.
he is in my house with malicious intent. my family > his life.
i remember reading the article about a guy that killed an attacker with a f/a rifle. that didnt turn out so well for him
seems similar to the rifle restrictions:
An “assault weapon” means (a) a semiautomatic rifle that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least two of the following characteristics: (i) a folding or telescoping stock; (ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; (iii) a bayonet mount; (iv) a flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash suppressor; (v) a grenade launcher; or (b) a semiautomatic shotgun that has at least two of the following characteristics: (i) a folding or telescoping stock; (ii) a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon; (iii) a fixed magazine capacity in excess of five rounds; (iv) an ability to accept a detachable magazine
The barrel has to be at least 18.5 inches and the overall length cant be shorter than 31? inches
I think thats it for regulations on them if I’m remembering correctly
