Gym Recommendations?

BAC was pretty good…so was Bally’s

its not an option for you due to location, but i like bally’s in the southtowns by 5 corners

after all my homework i diecided on gold in WS … closest and best

ive heard good things about World Gym. might be a drive for ya, but its good. i have wokred out as a ‘guest’ of a friend (who is a memeber) a few times at the one on sheridan, and its one of the nicer places ive been to. they r open 24/7 tto, which is nice, although i guess most gyms are lol

When I get some more money I would like to join a gym, but I will need a personal trainer for some help startin off. where can i go thats closish to akron for that with a trainer that is not going to rape me in prices?

I bought a semester pass at UB…$72 for a semester (4 months). As long as you dont plan on going from about 5pm-8pm its pretty good. Otherwise crowded.

Hope you’re all seated… I recently joined BAC. While the guys there are a bit on the annoying side*, overall I can’t complain. It’s super close to my house and my Univera medical insurance pretty much pays for it.

They do ask for friends’ names and numbers. Do your friends a favor and keep that info to yourself. Risk looking like a dork and claim you have no friends.

  • I’ve seen the guys working the counter blatently getting one another’s attention to point out hot chicks passing the counter. The place is a GYM for crying out loud. There WILL be some hot girls. Get over it. Too bad they’re not reading this.

Gold’s Gym(on wehrle)… I have been to BAC on Niagara Falls Blvd and I thought it was a joke. Gets way too crowded always have to wait for stuff. World Gym seems cool but for $40/month or whatever the hell it is they can keep it. And I think they are only open 24hrs on certain days not all week.

I dont know if anyone has said this yet, but my recommendation would be find a good gym that’s very CLOSE to you. that way you can go there and back no problem and in no time at all. I already found that out the hard way last year … no I belong to the YMCA which is about a 2 min drive. Now I can’t make excuses for not going

I worked out at GOLDS / workout now at Bally’s / used to be a personal trainer at BAC. Bottome line - all places are asses when it comes to signing you up. Golds is great but small and limited - BAC is the cleanest and nicest and greatest selection but not always the cheapest. Bally’s is dirty, and the parking lot has 500 4-foot deep craters. Overall, Bally’s has a good selection and a nice in-door track, however, they don’t do much to upkeep it even tho its a franchise. I only pay $8/month because i quit there, then it was an amazing promotion to get me back in the door. If you are given a FREE downpayment for a membership - go to BAC. You do however have to go through 4 programmed appointments where the guys pretend to teach you how to workout – HINT: only the first appointment is mandatory.

GOOD LUCK!

Take this advice - convenience is clutch - I’m also from TOT, and Bally’s is only an 8 minute drive, but when I was at BAC boulevard I worked out everyday non-stop because it was 30 seconds away.

ah geez man, anytime from like noon-8 can just flat out suck there tho

i mean i just go for the scenery Anyways

Hmm… BAC’s location makes it very tempting… I could probably put up with the initial bullshit if I can just come & go as I please after the initial stuff. Got any idea how much it is?

OK I got the card so now I"m looking for a gym on their list thats as close to $250 as possible so I can use my own cash for other things.

Anyone ever been to the Town of Tonawanda Aquatic and Fitness center? A town family fittness center sounds pretty gay to me, but it’s nearby and $249 for the year…

if you do a year, it comes to like $45/month… this was when i got a membership last july

why i don’t use it, and use the UB alumni pass is another story…
