Haitian earthquake

fuckin kids man…

jesus

last I saw they have accounted for over 50,000 dead already.

always thought Haiti was considered a bit of a no-go, warzoneish type place, here’s an article on the topic of what our military is up to over there in the relief efforts:

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/northwestvoices/2010889377_italiancriticismofreliefeffort.html

“Some of the first medical responders to hit the beach were Coast Guard medics from the cutters Tahoma and Mohawk. It was Air Force personnel who reopened the Port-au-Prince airport — providing not only continuous air-traffic control, but maximizing use of a pitifully small aircraft parking-area. The main port would still be closed were it not for Navy Seabees, Navy divers and the Coast Guard cutter Oak — the only buoy tender in Haiti.”

They pulled someone out alive today. Pretty freaking amazing. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,584013,00.html?test=latestnews

“A Reuters witness said the man, covered in dust and dressed only in underpants, was rescued by soldiers”
Question…why are these people always in their underwear when rescued? What was he doing in a store in his underwear?

And, totally serious question that’s been driving me nuts: Why is it that in every single photo I’ve seen of the mass graves, or scenes of makeshift morgues over the 2 weeks are the bodies either A)naked or B)the clothes are barely on the bodies (i.e. shirts up around necks, pants around ankles, skirts/dresses up around necks, etc)?? And this is all before serious decomposition or anything. I realize while pulling bodies out from the rubble clothes can be torn off or twisted around and such, but every single body is naked(ish).

We should use that money and build a killer vacation resort there, where we can pay the local people a minimal wage to service our every need.

Really stinks though, big  for the military getting things operational over there quickly.
