UTI sucks but if you do stick with it can get you basically as far as you can go in a dealership setting. Stick with it and do well and you can get into a high level german car dealership, not exactly some great huge thing but its better than working for Honda.
lol
Its a fact that you can make more money working on more expensive cars than working on cheaper cars, is it not? I’m not by any means saying being a car mechanic is a good career or even really a career at all but if your going to do it than at least try to get as far as you can. The large majority of the people I went to school at UTI with that I still talk to now work at struggling independent shops or small assorted dealerships and hardly make any money. I on the other hand did well and got into Keeler Mercedes where I make good money for a 22 year old and have very stable work.
Edit: Straight out of school my first full year I made more money than the average mechanic makes according to many different websites that I couldn’t tell you off the top of my head since I havent looked in a solid year or so. Not that I’m bragging because I’m making some huge sum of money, because I’m not by any means. But it goes to show that if you stick it out at UTI and do well it can set you up for one of the better jobs in the industry.
+1. The program is definitely worth it if you can keep your grades and attendance PERFECT and get into one of the dealer programs. I knew the program wasn’t for me because I lost interest in wanting to work on cars for a living. There’s a guy I talk to every now and then who finished out there and got into the Mercedes dealership and is doing quite well for himself.
Overall though, I think best bang for your buck HVCC has an excellent program in our back yard.
i am in no shape or form the best tech on here ,i didnt do shit for training exc 2 yrs in vo-tec the rest was all self taught and learnin as i go .profesionally now i only have about 8 yrs in the car industry as a carrear .i can honestly say there isnt much that i cant get figuered out .i was gonna do mmi after school but some legal battles from my own stupidity held me back from a lot ,honestly i think that if anyone puts enough in it they will get where they need to be .also lets face it comin out of a school dont make ya a tech ,its experiance and bein able to retane it .so all in all id say save his cash do a hvcc class then bust his ass
grammar helps too. :shifty
what grammar,
carrear,
Another thing to thing about, if you hope to go somewhere after being a tech for a few years the diploma you get from HVCC will help much more so than the certificate you get from UTI. Personally I’m at that point now and have to go back to school just to get an associates degree and get the bare minimum I might need to get a better job somewhere.
nope punctuation an me dont get along .
thanks for the input guys… i was thinkin about it cuz i got fucked over from SCCC and its to late now to sign up at HVCC… so i think ill be transfering to Hudson Valley in the spring
