"Has my cars computer been flashed" Is there a practical way to check?

Ok guys, I’m hoping some of you tuner guru’s will chime in on this. I’m trying to determine if there is a fairly simple way to plug into a cars ECM and check if it has been re-programmed from stock. This is not model specific, I’m really looking for a way to check any car. I will admit to not being savvy when it comes to custom tunes but I know how to use a scan tool and interpret the data. Is there some easily spotted tattle tale to look for? I appreciate any advice that you guy’s may have, thanks.

I don’t think there is a way to check EVERY car other than asking the previous owner.

depends on vehicle, what is the one in question?

The premise behind this question is that the tech guy’s at a local racetrack say they can spot a burned computer and I’m trying to see if they are fibbing to us. If there is no good way to check them then the door is wide open for mods. The 2 key cars would be z24 cavaliers and Honda civics.

only if they pop the cover on the Honda ecu and see a socket in place. however you could be extra sneaky and just solder the burnt chip into place however a tell tail would be if the chip is an sst or similar since Honda oem didn’t use those obviously. late model cavaliers would just be flashed and there would be no physical proof.

^ that.
