They are not junk. Not everyone is a A/V connoisseur. Some people just want a nice flat panel to replace their crappy tube TV’s on a budget.
BOTH Olevia and Visio have gotten EXCELLENT reviews from thousands of happy consumers on a budget. They are decent TVs.
The kid wants to spend $400, not $1400 on a Samsung so lets not have this turn into a techie pissing match. Just answer the specific question asked.
I agree. 9 out of 10 people think ANY HDTV looks amazing.
If your looking at a 19 inch JCPenney television, and switch to an HDTV flat panel, it will be night and day.
Me personally, I don’t give a shit.
I have a 30 inch philips CRT HDTV that looks great, and I paid 400 bucks for two of them from philips outlet.

Anything that falls under the Funai brand = stay away from.
I will say that I rarely see an Olevia LCD in for service at work, probably 2 a week.Dont see too many westinghouse TV’s either.
This months consumer reports has reviews on LCD TV’s,might want to check that out.
you said you were looking between 20-26"…
I have a 22" gateway crt with a flat screen…
a 360 would look slick on it.
$70

Looks amazing with my Xbox 360 (I came from a 20" walmart tv). Good price, good reviews. No dead pixels. Im happy with my cheap purchase.
26" is so huge for a bedroom. I cant imagine how amazing it would be to play on like a 42". haha
