Headlight Restoration Kits.....

Has anyone used any of them? Clear view, 3m, ect… I have been looking on- line at some of the kits.I might stop by the store on the way home and pick one up.

use toothpaste instead, save yourself 20 bux

i used the 3M and it worked great

Say what?

Where did you pick it up at? About how long did it take?

i picked it up at wal-mart and took about about an hour…essestially ur wetsanding and polishing the lights…so u could just get some variety of wetsand paper and plastic polish and do it urself…its holding up alot better than previous mehtods

I picked up the 3M one and have yet to use it. This is something I’m actually going to take pictures and do a write up for though. So look for it within the next couple weeks.

Crystal View, they sell it at Advance. Comes with a solvent that actually adds back UV protectant. I did my 300M’s projectors last year and they still look new.

here’s my method from a few years ago.

skip the kits. just do a regular wetsand and buff.

Also, how bad are the lenses? You may just need to polish, which is less work than wetsanding.

Any decent polish will work. Even something like Meguiars ColorX or paintwork cleanser may be enough. I’ve even had good luck with Mother’s FX Synwax for light hazing.

I think there’s a naive notion that these sorts of detailing tasks have one single process. At the end of the day the car shines or doesn’t. You don’t necessary have to do the most difficult thing to get the best results.

take toothpaste, rub it in with a brush, buff with a cloth, then rebuff with a damp cloth till its all off

it was on two guys garage a few years ago, ive done it a million times, charge customers 5$ to do theirs

I tried this on my Civic but didn’t get any good results. It was worth a try, but I couldn’t seem to get it clean. It may have been the gel kind so maybe that could cause a difference?

i used the meguiars headlight restoration kit. it was the worst ever.

its the grit in the paste that does the trick. rubbing compound is made for that kind of stuff though…

I bought the 3m kit lastnight on my way home from Autozone. Here is my review:

The kit was $21.XX, it came with everything that you need ( I bought the one with out the masking tape bc I had some around ). I masked everything off, then went to town with the rough paper. (that is when I found out that the head light was in bad shape) The kit had six “rough” disks and before I knew it I was on number four… with another headlight to go…ugh. I went step by step with the instructions that came in the kit.(but it seemed, like I was going through more product then was in the kit…)

So I finished up the “worse” light then moved on to the " not - so - worse " light with the remaining product.

Over all the head lights look 100X better, but I will need to pick up more of the product and go over them again.

yea they dont give you a ton of the polish…again u could just wetsand and use rubbing compund…there is stuff made for plastic…I soooo miss the days og glass headlight lenses

Wow Corey, my old tails!

It has been 4 years!
