I’ve had the Z28 back on the road for 2 days, after rebuilding the rear, and finally got a race worth posting up (more pending :rockon )
I got asked today if I would be interested in running a stock AMG C63, to which I obviously said, hells yes.
The guy just got it and was looking to get a race against something to test it out. He’s cool as hell and is always up for a fun race (he has a couple other rides as well).
The car in question is a bone stock 2009 AMG C63, which is rated 451 horsepower and 443 torque, and has a 7-speed auto transmission:
My Z28 is a 2002, M6, with Trickflow heads, cam, bolt-ons, and a Moser 12-bolt with 3.73’s. I just installed a FAST 90/90, which it’s not tuned for, and it’s running a nitrous tune (no nitrous in the car currently). Last year the car made 422 rwhp and 372 rwtq with the cutout closed (the way I drive it on the street).
I asked him what traction was like and what kind of a roll would be good for him, and he said 1st gear was useless (he showed us as he left strips going up the on ramp :excited ) and that 40 mph would work for him. I had my brother in my car and he was alone in the AMG.
The first race was from 40 mph with both cars in 2nd gear. We let out right after I went into 4th gear due, to traffic ahead.
The second race was about a 40 mph start, with me in 1st and him in 2nd gear. For this run we took it up to about 140 mph.
The races were very fun and that AMG was fast as hell for a stock car! It was also one of the nicest all around cars I’ve seen. Everything from the looks, to the fit and finish, to the power, it was just an awesome ride.
