Who saw this on news today? I heard about this from one of my friends, he got pull over in his RX7 and the cop that pull him over was a guy he knew from high school, the cop showed him on his computer how he got his e-test and told him if it was another cop he would have be screwed!!!

I don’t understand how selling a vehicle with modifications, although they don’t meet toronto’s standards, is illegal. Whos to say the next owner doesn’t street drive the vehicle? Or maybe changes the modifications?

thats only when you ‘change your address’ to validate your plates…if you have a buddy that does the etest for you fake or otherwise… theres no way for them to know… right?

there is internet trolling software that searches for your car to see if you are selling it (insurance companies use this) but it looks for your phone number or e-mail address… which you shouldnt be posting anyways.

i cant wait for them to update that cut off date to 1992 or something… we’re at 20 years old now before the cut off… it was 15 when it started.

the industry is hurting from what i hear.
the OEM’s are making it very difficult for smaller repair shops to repair newer vehicles. You need huge investments in software and scanning devices just to check an engine code on regular nissan or something no?
the OEM’s are trying to generate lifetime income from their client base since they have to be so competitive on sale price, so they are finding ways of keeping the technology proprietary and pushing the little guys out.
i keep hearing about smaller shops going under because they cant fix most problem on newer cars that were no problem before.
I know this is happening on the collision side… your average shop cannot take in a new mercedes or bmw with all of the electronic shitz going on in there…
Etesting was a way to boost revenues at the local shop… it gets you in, then they ding you for $600 in required changes to qualify for e-test… hence the threshold where if you didnt pass but spent $X to improve the car you got a conditional pass…lol…
i work with a former exec from Midas… dudes went from putting buckets of cash into their bank every month with 150% mark-up on exhuast work to the whole network being squeezed on profitability so badly that whole brands had to change thier marketing spin… hence Speedy Muffler >>> Speedy Muffler Brake and Wheel…

E-testing has nothing to do with the environment and never did. It is about making it more difficult to own older cheaper cars so that you have to buy new ones or at least poor money into the economy by spending money on your old shit box…
Harper even said a few years back, if you want to do Canada a favour, get rid of your old car and buy a new one.

Another thing his i understand you cant sell are car with Etest and Safety knowing it’s not safe but you are able to sell it as is!!! ALSO the cop ripped of the kids plate and maybe did damage to the bumper i would be charging the police for at repair bill!! your not allowed to yank off a plate like that!! one thing i learned is not put a breather!!.. that loophold is OLD!! and that reason that cops showed is the reason ill never try it!!
