after the other thread, I’d like to get this out in the open.
What do you use for health insurance?
age?
smoker or non?
how much do you pay a year for single and or married?
how do they handle pre existing conditions, such as me dealing with macular degeneration in one eye?
When my eye starts to bleed internally, it costs around 800 for 3 - 4 months Each month, followed by 275$ follow up visits for the next 3 months. followed up by visits every 6 months after that if it stays stable.
So far I’ve gone thru probabaly 4000$, and i think I’m having issues again, so there goes another 3,000 at the worse time.
So if I can find coverage for less than 3k a year, I’d be down to get it.
(I dont smoke, my credit may very well be in the 400’s tho)
Blue Cross Blue Shield.
28/ non smoker
I pay about 20 a week (single)/ Family was something like 45.
No issues with pre existing conditons and specialist trips. (asthma).
I will say for an employer Insurance plan its pretty good. It beats Indep. Health big time, I had nothing but issues with them.
I’m going to give them a call, If I can get an even similer rate, I’ll take that asap.
thats like 1k a year, smoking good deal to know I wont have to spend eleven billion. Deductable?
My girl has health insurance, and they dont take it ANYWHERE locally Humana FTL. But even if they did its like a 6k deductable or something seriously insane (shes on her parents plan til shes 25)
Unless you have a job that offers insurance you’re gonna be screwed. Medical insurance companies don’t normally like covering pre-existing conditions that you and the doctors are already aware of.
Yeah Karter, That is my employer’s insurance plan that I partake in. They are very nice about benefits. If you wanna get into specifics Ill be glad to. Pm me I dont want to get into total detail in public.
You’re not going to get that plan without working for a company that offers insurance. That company probably picks up about 80-90% of the tab for that type of money.
I dont have health insurance. I rely on other taxpayers to foot my bills.
Actually no.
I have Excellus through my work. Single with no kids costs me $90 a month before taxes and my dental is $8 per month. Its the 25/40 copay
Coverage is good and never have had a problem but only upset with the fact that I dont go to the doctor a lot and wish they gave me a flex spending account to use for things like a gym membership or other healthy living stuff.
Call around and get quotes, the biggest thing for health insurance is being backed by a company to get it cheapest. There is also plans through the state, not sure what they are, just search the internet. I have also seen plans posted in other health insurance topics on here.
Also if you have free time to work, and don’t mind working, I know Lowes and UPS have benefits offered to part time workers.
Also when you said before when credit is not important, when you get quotes, company’s pull credit reports, not sure if they do this for health insurance though.
Blue Cross Blue Shield
30/Non Smoker
I pay 132 bi-weekly thru my work for me and my wife.
Only pre-existing condition I have is hypertension, which I was just taken off one my meds. Now if I could only get my fat ass to the gym on a regular schedule again could probaly be off the other one in a year or 2.
But yea as JayS said good job == good healthcare at pretty affordable rate.
I would hold off until healthcare reform goes through…the public option will be largely irrelevant for you since even if it passes it wouldn’t go through for a few years, but the part that is certain to pass where insurance companies won’t be able to jack your rates or deny you coverage because of the pre-existing condition could help you immensely, as well as the exchanges where you could see all the providers’ rates in one place.
YAY.
I just accepted an offer for a job.
Independent health is what they offer.
I’m used to Blue cross and currently on Cobra.
Hope the coverage is comparable. I have a hunch it will be better since Ingram Micro gypped out on their coverage and went deductible based as of January. Cheap pricks.
text me …i can’t get deals but can help on all questions…
pre x in NYS is not the way you think . IH we offer 75 diff plans like 10 have pre x … they can only deny you cov for a related condition for 12 months that was treated 6 months prior to the first eff date of new cov
I have the Joe Pay plan.
I pay 100% until I get to my deductible.
Then they cover 80%. Last year I hit my deductable 2 weeks before the new year started
At least I’m forced to use medco for anything that requires more than one fill per year or something like that.
All for the low price of ~$50/week
I guess thats still not that bad in relation to what others pay.
Pauly’s thread makes me think I should go to the Dr…
Maybe I should get life ins 1st, then go… just incase I have antyhing
that would jack up the life ins. rates… lol
I have life through work, its not a ton but will pay off most things(house etc…)wish i had thought more and prepared, i cant imagine if i didnt have health ins. i gotta be in the 3-400 k range by now
