why is there what seams to be a ground just hanging there aswell as a plug?

Mack, sounds like you need to get your battery tested/replaced. This is a common occurrence on all makes of cars as we enter winter. The cold temperature reduces the surface area in the battery in turn lowering the CCA.
If you want a simple way to test your battery, get a boost and run your car for 1/2hr. If you shut off your car after the 1/2hr and it won’t start again, it’s safe to say that the batteries needs to be replaced.
As a word of caution look for your old light bulbs (including headlights) to burn out as the increased expansion/contraction from the cold is usually too much for the worn elements.

it was a hitorical questions…meaning that should be pluggin in and on the alternator!
Yeah it was, right after the picture was taken. I was just using that as a reference for him, I had the picture laying around.
And dude, check your alternator, your battery and your grounds, if everything else is dying, sounds like you’ve got a power problem.
