The other day my CA18DET started to spike a little in heat so i pulled over and noticed that I was leaking coolant through a pinhole…although at a decent rate. The hose that is leaking is a rubber hose between the air intake and the block just above and towards the firewall from the thermostat. (Make sense to anyone?) right around where the injectors are. I removed the rubber hose and found that it was covering a 2mm gap between two nipples. Now I have no idea how to get a new hose over these. I can not figure out how to remove the hardline, it will not move back at all to allow me to get a hose on, but i can not see where it is anchored. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
i know which line you’re talking about, i did have to replace it but i don’t remember how i did it. there is an easy way though…like taking the throttle body off or another part…i don’t remember it being a big pain though
Just in case somebody else has this problem I will tell you how I fixed it. To move the hardline so you can replace the rubber hose you must remove 2 bolts that hold on a 2 inch square sensor that is between the hardline and the front of the car, just below the intake manifold. The one bolt is super easy, the other is a finiky bitch because of the location of sensors, rad hoses etc. It takes some patience and a wrench to get it out as a conventional socket will not fit, perhaps if you have something a little more sophisticated it would be easier.
