Help me build my car.

We can build a fast and reliable 300whp Ka-t for under 8grand. Send me a pm and we will talk.

S13 Chassis: 4K
S13 SR20DET From Varun: 2k
IC/Hotpipe/BOV: 1k
550 Nismo’s: $400
PFC: $800
U2NDyno Tune: $500
Boost Controller: $150
3" Exhaust: $500
Misc: $500

Not exactly 8k, but it will put you in high low 13’s to high 12’s. Also not 300whp but that would only be a turbo upgrade away at that point.

8k including car… not gonna happen unless you find a silly deal or you go the blow and swap KA way.

I meant high 12’s to low 13’s… but you can’t edit this junk and its early.

Pm slipperysilvia and close this thread.

dont be stupid like every other s chassis owner who regrets afterwards and go LS, you’ll have like I said good mpg, factory reliability, more power unlike any sr setup no matter what or even kat setup… oh well. I know son240 doesnt listen  eg: “not everyone wants an LS1” yup not everyone who hasnt researched it.

Can’t edit posts, but to add to the above. Why spend 8000$ on a f’en 2liter junkyard turbo motor from japan when you can get better usable power and more reliably long term for that money… honestly shouldnt cost 8000$ if you do your homework more like mid-6000ish… and if you start modifying the LS, you’re looking at 400-500whp+ to start (NA, supercharged, twin turbo, pick your weapon)

I think some people like myself would be paranoid about having a 5.7 liter engine, when their insurance company thinks they only have a 2.4. What could be the consequences if they find out? Should you tell them before hand? etc etc…

not sure how crazy you want to get with suspension. but even for a full brake upgrade you’re looking anywhere from $500 - $1000 depending on what’s available at the time (new and used for pads, rotors, calipers, lines, etc). not to mention the need to possibly convert to 5 lug depending on what brake setup you choose (so add another $500 - $1000 for the convert if this applies).

your springs/shocks will be anywhere from $700 - $1500 give or take (that’s for coilovers or spring/shock combo).

and if you want to take things further you can factor in stb’s, swaybars, rr multilink, fr t/c rods…just to name a few

for brakes, hub conversion, and springs/shocks, you would be looking anywhere between $1700 - $3500 (that’s the #'s above stacked, so let’s say about $1500 - $3000). this still doesn’t include any kind of bracing or solid linkages and i’m assuming you’ll probably want to pick up at least 1 stb and swaybar.

oh yeah, wheels and tires as well…range for that really depends on what you want though.

if you’re factoring in a whole car + mods for $8000 RELIABLY, you can see how tight your budget’s going to be to get a pretty well rounded ride. you can eliminate some of this depending on what you want to do with your car and depending on various links and deals.

g/l with the build, just remember that research and patience will save you $$$.

sorry, forgot to mention $700 - $1500 for coilovers or springs/shocks BNIB.

Um the reason we own a japanese car is to stay away from garbage american engines and electronics, I personally dont know shit about an ls1 and dont really want to learn anything about them sooo yea.

so an ls1 is a ‘garbage american engine’ ?

lol

go learn something

Tossing in an LS1 is a great idea if you want 600+HP… for 300ish stick with the 4 bangers. Better gas milage, much easier swap, better tranny (at those levels).

I don’t argue with me on the gas milage… please… I don’t have the patience for it.

And don’t argue with me on the gas milage… please… I don’t have the patience for it.

^edit…

stupid garbage forum

milage? Are you kidding me? the stock sr20det has descent gas milage, the ka doesnt really… and… turbo the ka ur screwed on gas milage, upgrade the sr, ull ultimately still be screwed on gas milage.

LS1 + T56 = 6th speed on highway going 120km/hr = 1500rpm… 35mpg… boom… lighten the car even better lol

KAT’s can get 500+km’s to the tank. That’s a combination of city and highway driving.

But bringing up mileage on a swap thread is just silly.

YOU have a LS1?

Any well tuned I4 has good milage… end of story.

I get ~30MPG… AVERAGE (which means city/highway) on my sr… and its not stock.
