Turbo cars are generally quieter than s/c and n/a setups. I don’t doubt that it’s quiet and civilized on your car, but on the Cobalt it sounds like shit and is LOUD.
do a dynomax or vibrant … good to go
I’ll try Dynomax if adding the missing sound deadening doesn’t help fix the cause to my liking.

just kidding but seriously the cobalts come with stainless factory exhausts if memory serves not sure how that is crapping out on you so fast if that is the case. the black stuff you described early is just carbon and moisture in the exhaust and shouldnt really do any damage at all besides looking ugly as long as your car is not pooping fluids which I doubt it is due to its young age.

Apexi WS2’s are almost too quiet. One of those could work well with a glasspack on the midpipe. A bit pricey though.
Or get a dynomax.

I should. It’s definitely gotten louder over the past week.
It’s not really loud, but the drone on the highway sucks. I was thinking about adding a side branch resonator but I really, really don’t have the time or patience to screw with this car’s exhaust any longer.
That’s because you have a 4.05 final drive and lack a 6th gear.
