The Ridgeline has the same unibody as the Pilot if memory serves. I don’t think Honda would go to Chevy for anything except to tell them how much their vehicles blow…

A slight bit of truth to that. The Ridgeline was designed by an ex-gm engineer.

Really? It is based off the Pilot, which is based off the Odyssey. And show me any production product where Honda has used GM parts. GM used Honda parts for the good motor in the old Vue, but I don’t think it’s ever gone the other way.

lol

“What that means is that the vehicle now looks much like the new Honda pickup that was introduced last year, the Ridgeline, which essentially is just a Pilot with the area behind the second row of seats cut out to create a pickup bed. The exterior changes include a revised grille, hood, fenders, headlights, bumpers, and taillights.”

So it’s not the SAME but it’s based off of the Pilot.

I meant about GM working with Honda

The ridgeline is a pilot which is the honda minivan which is an accord

Honda is sweet

Titan is sweet

Different vehicles though. Judging by your post I’d think the Hoda would be more up his alley

The ridgeline is definitley a better passenger vehicle than the Tacoma or the other pick-ups. I am sure Joe will swing by your house, Mike so your dad can give it a better look…

Thanks a bunch for all the input guys. As far as towing capacity is concerned, the most he will tow is his friends small boat which is considerably less than 5k lbs, and that wont happen that often. Besides that, I know I will use it in the winter to tow a trailer with a few snowmobiles, and we’ll also be using the trailer to bring building supplies once i start building my house. But that covers the extent of all the towing it will ever see, its nothing major. Not to mention his F150 was a 5.4 rated at 235 hp, the Ridgeline 6 cylinder is rated at 247, so its got a slight advantage there, although the F150 had considerably more torque. Still, that shouldnt make a difference here.

The Tundra is a nice truck no doubt, but I think in his case the Ridgeline is going to be the way to go. He was actually talking about just getting a nice car this time around, but the bottom line is he still needs a bed to carry stuff around occasionally without having to sacrifice a nice ride and enough seating room for 4. A big V8 would be a waste for him, as most of the time he is just DDing it to get where he needs to go.

Im gonna be out of town this weekend, but we’re going to test drive a Ridgeline on Monday, so Ill let you guys know how it goes. He seems pretty dead set on the Honda now, but Im gonna make him go to the Nissan and Toyota dealers and at least take a good look at the new Titan and Tundra as well.

Oh and as for pricing, he doesnt care, its really not a factor. I told him to expect to be in the neighborhood of 40k give or take a few grand for a nicely loaded new full size truck, and hes fine with that, he just wants a truck that suits his needs the best, this truck will carry him into retirement and he plans on keeping it for a long time to come.

Thanks again for the help fellas :tspry:

if he is really leaning toward a ridgeline make sure he drives a toyota first because i think visibilty will be an issue here. we had someone trade a ridgeline in a while ago and i couldn’t see a thing when i drove it, especially backing up. too bad he doesn’t want a GM, but i’m a little biased…

ps. we own a toyota store if you need a deal or contact info

I think if he’s towing something that light a Ridgeline will be just fine. The Tacomas are definitly great trucks and considerable bigger than they used to be. The Tundra is available in a V6 also which actually has some balls for a 6. Either way you can’t go wrong with any of them.

I say go with the toyota.

Anything with a transverse engine and no ladder isn’t a truck if you ask me.

i like the way you think

unibody ridgline FTL! go with a tacoma you’ll be happy

tacoma FTW

not trying to knock the ridgeline, but how would it be to tow with a irs?

It also has No low range at all. Its not a real truck

Too bad he’s insisting on a pickup bed. Nissan’s VQ40 has small V8-like power with V6 gas mileage. 266hp/288ft-lbs, 17/22 mpg. 6000 pounds towing. You can get it with heated leather in the Pathfinder.

If he’s going to spend close to $40k, don’t piss it away on a domestic truck that will be worth 1/3 that in 3 years.

Oh well, within your/his requirements: Ridgeline or Tundra FTW. He’d be able to tow a couple thousand pounds just fine with either, despite what the domestic thugs and/or bench racers are chanting. :stuck_out_tongue: Reliable as hell. Either one will actually be worth more than a thousand dollars in ten years when he’s done with it.
