help!!! new problem

my car has been in pices for a few months now. today i finally got everything back together.

from the engine i only removed a few things like the intake and spark plug wires which got changed.

went to go start it up and when it finallly turned over it backfried real bad, and thn shut down.

i could see the engine move about 2 inches to each side from the driver seat and the whole car kicked violently.

why si this?

im thinking i put the spark plug wires back in the wrong spots on the distributor.

it’s firing all out of position.

anybody?

didnt label them? ha ya id say its not in the right firing order… find out your factory firing order and then trace the wires from the distributor, plug and play.

It’s not hard to figure out your spark plug wire’s order. They are usually
unequal length. Longest goes to #4, shortest goes to #1.

So yea, do what Krimzen said and check your order and try again.

i know gonad

heres the situation.

i was going to change my spark wires.

i took them out from the distributor first, then when i went to remove them from the the block, they were in htere real good, so i said to hell with it,

then i forgto which order they were placed in on the distributor.

the right ones are still on the block, but i know hnow that i put them back on the distributor wrong.

once i get a diagram it should be all good.

thanks krimzen and gonad…

The firing order of both of the KA’s is

1 - 3 - 4 - 2

FSM (overkill for what you need - but good reference anyways)
