I need to install a new valve cover gasket in my 97 lincoln mark viii. i have the gasket, and RTV, but not the know-how.
I’m willing to pay someone to help me / teach me.
I’d also be willing to help you in exchange for helping me with this. I also could trade computer repair for car repair lol.

go buy a haynes or chilton manual from your favorite auto parts store. it will walk you step by step with specifics for your vehicle
I have watched how to’s on how to replace a valve cover gasket, but i’d still like some help.

it’s cool you want someone to help you, but sometimes you learn more by doing it yourself. Get the manual for the car, take your time and follow directions. If you think you’d be able to assemble a t.v. stand, then you’ll be able to change a valve cover gasket.
If you get stuck, take a picture and post it on here, ask what to do. You’ll get some shit but you’ll also get some help.

I’ll go over to auto zone tomorrow and see if i can get a haynes manual. I talked to one guy who told me it was such a tight fit he once had to drop one side of the motor to get the valve cover off, so it made me nervous.
I would do this… this guy can turn a wrench.

well, with some help from a friend today i found out i don’t need to replace my valve cover gasket because that’s not where the leak is… but i still have no idea where it is.
