HELP trying to hook up laptop 2 wireless modem

Sorry im not sure where to post this one, i just got a new Dell E1505 and a netgear wireless router, i need help, i suck at computers so i need start to finish info on how to do this thanks

eesch… Bump

I will come out and hook it all up for 25/hour

hmm do i get anything “special” with that price? :bj:
LOL…
i’ll let you know if i dont figure it today, the wife wants it home with her for tomarrow, working, ha

just turn everything on and it will work just fine.

edit - maybe not since you got a netgear.

seriously, just plug everything in and it should be enough to get you on the interweb, you can worry about security later. That little booklet that came with the product should be a good start to showing you how to hook everything up.

im in the prolly not area right now and… i thnk it needs a stomp, then an opps and that should fix it, :reloading
Should i use the linksys instead?

linksys>netgear

they are all simple as fuck to get working though. I had my linksys running in like 5 minutes. and that included drinking a beer and taking a piss.

Listen to the Redneck… He is right.

Also, you may need t power cycle everything… including the modem after it is all hooked together. Power up starting at the wal and working towards the laptop. Make sure each one if fully powered up before powering up the next one.

ty, im going to try that now, I actually forgot the book at home so… thats not going to help me much today, and if i learned anything this short into life , its to not get the wife pissed, so plz keep the suggestions coimg i let ya’ll know how its going, as for the beer i think im going to try that one

Just a guess at which model you have: http://kbserver.netgear.com/pdf/wgr614v6_ref_man_20Apr05.pdf

TY, I owe you a few…

fuck netgear

enable wireless card via network connections…

plug in router…

http://192.168.2.1 (i think netgear default)
- enable wireless on the router wtih no security…

attempt to connect on the computer…

reboot everything if it doesn’t work…

nvr got this this to work, i should have hired Whitey instead of being a jackass.
anyways i think somthing is wrong with the card, it connects for a short time then disconnect, it says signal is excellent, but at the same time IE wont connect, it says no internet connection avail.? if i pug in the ethernet cable and go through IE it works fine… :dunno:

Im with ya on that one for sure!! :frowning:
