Well the jurors arent here to defend themselves and if you want to make blanket statements with that much confidence consider me the devils advocate here to hold you accountable to garbage youre spewing. Just because someone isnt well spoken doesnt make them stupid. And he used statements like that to clearly indicate what trials like this come down to… Reasonable doubt. Im sure every single juror believed to most extents the guy ultimately should be guilty but not being able to find reasonable doubt isnt a loophole… its what the system is built on. Im not some freedom fighting super nationalist, however I think they got this call right and to hear people like you bitch about how “money” bought him out of this and not logically progress through the events of the trial themselves disgusts me.
the way i’ve been thinking about it is…if it were ME, and i dont drink/drive if i dont think im capable, had a couple drinks, trying to go home… i’ve been generally a good person my whole life never harmed anyone…and someone hypothetically runs out in front of my car that i honest to god didnt see them…should my whole life be F’ed up from here on out?
c’mon. I’m not saying this is all true for this guy…imagine if it is…or if it was you…
no one wants to blame the girl because she was killed…but a lot of things could have happened…what if she did it intentionally? What if SHE wasnt paying attention (likely?)…or what if (dun, dun dunnnnn) this was an ACCIDENT, not a MURDER.
He wasn’t charged with murder… he was charged with manslaughter - totally different charges.
I thought some basic understanding of the legal system and laws was normal
This thread is supporting the opposite.
Ok well opinions are like assholes and im not here to agree with you or anyone else supporting the defense and praising what a good job they did, so If people like me disgust you then im sorry my greatest condolences. Thats great you feel that way, we clearly have very different views on the subject. Joel Daniels is a very good friend of my grandfathers so I know all about legal processes.
My cousin Ryan purcell was walking home from his girlfriends last october facing traffic far into the grass off the road to avoid being hit and was struck from behind by a drunk woman who crossed over the other side of the road and broke his neck as he flipped over her suv.She fled the scene leaving him on the side of the road to die at the age of 18.She was drinking since 5pm and hit him at 220am. She flew home and hid in her bathroom untill police broke her door down the next afternoon and arrested her. Because she fled the scene and police didnt find her until about 12 hours after the incident, she couldnt be charged with dwi. She claimed “she didnt know she hit anything” when his hair and blood was on her windshield. I know where she was drinking that night and know people that were at the bar and saw how drunk she was having her friends begging her to let them give her a ride. Police had videos of her flying through caz park minutes before she hit my cousin, they had her facebook status opened saying " wine tasting then out for drinks all night with the girls" before she deleted it.
The fact that the bar owners/ bartenders at the bar(who frequently serve minors and deal drugs out of it) she was at refused to talk to police or indicate how many drinks she had or how long she had been there because she was a regular there and they didnt want to get in trouble, along with her fleeing the scene making her unable to produce a breathalyzer/ blood test and hiding and then proclaiming she has an undiagnosed sleeping disorder is why she was not convicted of vehicular manslaughter.
She plead guilty to leaving the scene of a fatal accident and got served 2-7 years with parole eligibility after only two. Because she was a poor white trash regular drunk she didnt have the money to fight or stand a trial, but if she had the money im sure she would of got off scott free with just a misdemeanor because asshole defense lawyers would of somehow found a way to have her “sleeping disorder” allowed in court. The fact that the woman who took him out of this world, still has yet to try and contact his family to apologize or show an ounce of remorse fucking disgusts me.
So yea I guess you could say you and I or the next person to want to debate with me on the subject will have very very different views on this.

exactly! im not saying he did it on purpose or it wasnt partially the girls fault but the fact that he went home noticed blood and tissue on his car and ran out of his house not calling the police or returning himself to where it had happened is beyond suspicious. Then the tampering with evidence only puts more icing on the cake.
Im sorry about your cousin but the emotion you take in this argument just shows the biases people try to bring into the legal forum. You want to hate drunk drivers and the justice system thats all fine and good, but it was your attack on the people who are faced with the burden of deciding this guys fate which I find wrong. Sounds like in your cousins situation the judge if anything is the most to blame on what you found as such an injustice. If the story goes exactly how you explain it, then that absolutely sounds like a situation where the justice stem has failed us, but jumping the grass to hit your cousin isnt even near the same playing field as this girl being in the middle of the road. Just as the jury found, we cant without any doubt confuse his insobriety as the reason for her death (was that a quadruple negative lol).
I ran over a cat with my truck before and felt it, I pulled over and checked it was indeed a cat. If you can’t feel a person you hit, in a BMW then there is def something wrong with you. Enough said. No debate if your drunk or sober.
you’re*
I picture myself behind the wheel of an expensive luxury vehicle with probably more than adequately performing headlights (as I’m sure BMW’s possess). Even without streetlights, even with a person (boy, girl, what have you) I can’t imagine not being able to see something even at the shoulder of the road, crouched or not. Black makes you less visible, not INvisible. I have driven a plow truck in a heavy snow storm and have easily seen people walking along the road. If I were drinking, and/or texting, I doubt it would be quite so easy. No one could ever convince me this was simply a tragic accident, as his attorney portrayed it. There are too many incidents and indicators pointing to his level of responsibility for this girl’s death. If you want to boil it down to could it have been avoided, yes it could have, and he made choices which prevented him from avoiding her.
As far as people’s manner of speach relating to their level of intelligence, I know few “smart” people who do not express themselves, verbally or in writing, in a manner that does not make others believe they have an above average level of brain power. If I were an attorney who thought they could dupe someone of lesser intelligence into believing something was in doubt, do you think I wouldn’t do so to win my case? I think the defense had the advantage of working over this jury in their favor. Again, how is someone guilty of DWI and not of other charges based on being impaired behind the wheel?
The story is told to you exactly as it happened, didnt leave anything out or put anything false in it thats how my cousin was killed. From what I heard sedita is new and didnt want to be too harsh on the girl because hes trying to make a name for himself, but that is just hearsay and not a proven fact. Even if my cousin had not been killed by a drunk driver in almost the same manor I would still feel ultimately the same way I do now. I could never hit anyone or anything and just drive off. I dont believe corisanti deserves 25 to life for it, but he should of been made an example of and punished to some degree. This is another avoidable senseless death that could have easily been prevented. Regardless of anything, drunk or not. You dont hit something and drive off and Ive driven in a 7 series before and if you hit anything hard enough to launch it the amount that girls body did, you know it. And I agree with the statement about the headlights. 7 series are equipped with projectors and hids from the factory. The visibility is amazing on them. The jury may have seen and heard things we will never know about that may have swung them into believing the charges werent warranted but come on you convicted him of driving drunk and he managed to kill someone and left the scene in the process. Accident or not its pretty black and white in my opinion and just doesnt make sense how he didnt at least get leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
My comment on the jury being stupid fucks was primarily based on the “forman” who I watched the interview of. Like I said the fact that he compared driving a bmw to driving a bus is completely insane and also the fact that he never once gave the interviewer a straight answer. that is suspicious alone to me. All I have to say is that if the jury wanted to justify there verdict putting that moron on an interview as unprepared and stupid he sounded wasnt a good idea lol. They should of had someone much better at explaining there logic and reason.
Mother and daughter mowed down in a hit and run in Niagara Falls last night. News film looked like the area was poorly lit. Any golf courses throwing parties out that way?
People are learning to not stop.
As soon as this court ruling happened, I said that. It sets a legal precedent that you now have a argument that if you didn’t know you hit someone and don’t stop, DWI lawyers will be all over this.
You guys do realize there were lots of hit and runs long before Corasanti right?
WHY DO WE SUDDENLY HAVE AN EPIDEMIC OF PEOPLE RUNNING INTO BUILDINGS IN WNY OMG.
We are just obsessed with people smashing into things with their cars.
Glad to see something’s being done. Doesn’t put Captain Shitbag behind bars or in a General Electric easy chair.

Cliffs: Will not lose medical license, on probation for 5 years and has to go to an ethics program.
Talk about slap on the wrist.
