Heres a reason to not drink and drive (Hit and run) (Corasanti trial)

Beyond making sure he doesn’t drink and practice what does a DWI have to do with his professional work?

More like a slap in the face.

To be licensed as a physician in New York State you must: be of good moral character

That top bullet point is questionable at best for him, IMO.

And the court case proved he didn’t know he hit someone…

Im glad they dint revoke it. Even if you believe he should be locked up, a court has already decided he wont be so might as well utilize his important and rare skills to continue to help people. And dont give me the “oh so he can make even more money argument” because he would have been fine even if they did revoke it.

Hahah.

In some ways I agree with you and if nothing else he hopefully can be helpful to our society, get his head out of his ass and also make good on the civil suit he’s sure to face.

Well, like it or not this is what happened.

It was an initial assumption on my part as well as many others before the trial that he knowingly hit and left a human being hurt on the side of the road given his actions & what we knew at the time. If this would have been shown in court his medical license would have been revoked after an almost certain conviction.

But we found out later that his wife went back to the location to see what he hit, as well as other information the defense presented. And the jury decided (like it or not) that he didn’t know he hit a human.

So we get this: http://w3.health.state.ny.us/opmc/factions.nsf/58220a7f9eeaafab85256b180058c032/44bd3fb34370441585257a52004f722d/$FILE/BRD%20158564.pdf

The act of leaving a human being hurt on the side of the road doesn’t equal that of a deer or other object when it comes to your medical license.

For those that missed this article:

People didn’t like the court/jury decision and are now looking for other ways to go after him.

The general public had it in their minds from day 1 he was 100% guilty end of story and still can’t accept the outcome of the court case.

I realize the entire situation sucks for everyone involved/related/etc but this is the reason we have a legal process and don’t lynch mob people every time something bad happens.

Does anyone know if they’re having a civil case?

Court trials don’t actually PROVE anything. They just come to a consensus based on evidence. Nobody can prove what went through his mind that night.

The whole situation sucks, but if you went after every DWI suspect and told them they couldn’t go back to work after the case, what good is that doing? If he is a good doctor, then why should he stop practicing? Gulity or not…

Ok but when you’re trying to take away someones right to practice medicine for a crime the legal system proved he was innocent of…

Unfortunately this is the case.

Agreed.

And, jail for 1 year for DWI.

About what I expected. The circumstances warranted the max allowed and that’s what he got.

Now all the stupid comments that will ignore the fact that he was only convicted of DWI and cry about how he should have got life blah blah.

Max sentence=surprised
Max sentence=got off easy

Duh. The justice system exists to convict! Not guilty = justice system failed!

I don’t remember. Was this his first DUI?

i forgot this was happening today until i drove down franklin and every news van in the area was outside…

second or third IIRC

Or he had 1 in the past

"Daniels said he was considering having Corasanti testify in his own defense, but wanted to ensure the People would not be allowed to ask Corasanti about his prior Driving While Impaired charge. Prosecutor Christopher Belling argued it’s important in evaluating the doctor’s credibility for the jury to know that 16 years ago in Niagara County, Corasanti was cited for driving out of his lane with a blood alcohol count of .16. But the Judge agreed with the Defense that it would be prejudicial and said she will not allow it. "

It’s like there is this whole wealth of information this is a few clicks away crazy technology

Also convicted of DUI in 1996. Not that mine particularly matters, but I’m still of the opinion that he knew he hit her, he’s a smart Dr. who knew enough to book it and do it exactly the right way ie call your lawyer immediately and make yourself unavailable for several hours. His defense team rocked it, and he wasn’t convicted of manslaughter. This is just a small sense of relief though, it takes away a bit of the “I beat the system” and knocks him back to reality.

For those of you who are retarded enough to drink and drive, I hope you took notes from this guy. And have a nice bankroll for some baller attorneys. This wasn’t his first rodeo, I’m conviced he knew what he did. I don’t think he was so plowed he had no recollection of the event, but I guarantee his BAC was over the legal limit when he was driving, was texting, hit Alix, knew he hit her, and the rest is history.
