Hey, all of you FGGTS looking for jobs without resumes. (freebie inside)

Get off your ass and make one today, then print it on resume-quality paper for free up to 25 times tomorrow. Cheap printer paper is a big no-no, it makes you look poor.

People still print out resumes?

pdf all the way

people care that I put my resume on wastefully thick paper?

if you are going to a job fair it does help you stand out and look like you actually care.

ha yeah i thought the same thing 90% of the places ive been checking wont even take one in person everyone wants a electronic copy now. but thats deffinately a good find I may go do it just to have the nice copies.

Maybe it is perceived as lack of caring, but I wouldn’t want to work for that company then…

…this is exactly why I’m going to grad school.

I kept a bunch of freebie Thumb Drives to put my resume on…

We had some printed for a table top here and i ended up with ~ 20 free 1gb thumb drives…

the company logo scratches right off…

if i have to go job hunting i would probably just put my name on the drive and hand that out…

While your in grad school, i will have 4+ years of experience over you… good luck competing with that… (not aimed at you specifically, just a general hating on grad school dig)

While you were in undergrad I got 4+ years experience over you. Not aimed at you just general hating on College.

:roflpicard:

<---- can’t wait for you to get a taste of the real world

You are not one of a kind. Particularly in this economy, for 99% of jobs there are more applicants with qualifications as good as or better than yours. It certainly doesn’t hurt to have the little things in your favor that say “This guy gives a damn”, for nothing more than tiebreakers. Just like in the interview where the guy with the better suit or better posture or a firmer handshake gets the offer.

Sending an electronic resume is the way to go these days. However, you should ALWAYS BRING A HARD COPY to the interview.

Get a nice leather folder with a pad to write down a note if you need to. Put a copy or 2 of your resume in there. When you get to the interview, give the interviewer a new copy on the nice resume paper.

I can’t tell you how many times a hiring manager has thanked me for bringing one. Most of the time IF they printed out a hard copy, they lost it. They almost always like to reference it during the interview.

Did none of you really know to do this? No wonder you are unemployed.

I do give a damn. I give a damn enough to not create unnecessary waste.

:bigclap:

Real world vs academia

haha good. Then people like me will always be offered a position over you.

While your in grad school, i will have 4+ years of experience over you… good luck competing with that… (not aimed at you specifically, just a general hating on grad school dig)

resume hard copies will always be used in interviews, granted u email one before an interview, but they always/usually ask to bring one as well so they can it on their desk in front of them.

LOL at the X2

I agree with you sort of.

But many positions are not attainable w/o grad school.

Depends on the situation. If I were meeting someone at a job fair and they handed me a flash drive I’d ask them if I look like a fucking computer and then move on to the next person that had something I could read.

If someone mailed a printout to me, then OK fine. Better be on resume paper or I’d rather have a digital copy that I can print myself if/when I want a hard copy on my desk.

This is true.
