Hey, all of you FGGTS looking for jobs without resumes. (freebie inside)

:bsflag: you were in my accounting class

edit: i’ve never gone to a job interview so i really have no idea how to interview… shit I wrote my first resume 3 months ago :gotme:

All i know is what not to do, since i have interviewed probably 50 candidates, and i’ve seen some of the dumbest shit.

AGREED^

4+ years past undergrad would probably be a doctorate… I’m pretty sure that person would get hired over you, experience or not…

This is the way to go

They would not be applying for similar jobs. At least not with a BS ChemE versus a PhD ChemE.

Probably goes for most other areas. There’s a high degree of specialization at that level.

wut about somebody who gets a master’s degree while working?

regardless, the basic statistics don’t lie, more education equates to more income as long as you pick a field that’s hiring.

I know alot of places will not accept flash drives as the employer does not know what is on them. Hey, you never know.

“yeah, i have macros in my resume that, uh, update my employment info on a daily basis.”

that would be a good way to gain control of a system… just go to a job fair and hand out a ton of these with resume.exe on them.

Resume paper, leather binder, hah.

It all helps, but if you bring the skills needed, you could bring your resume on a piece of bark and still get the job!

I bring both. Now that I think about it, I have never interviewed and not been offered the job. 4/4.

Not at most big companies you won’t. First interview is almost always with HR, who decide who gets to interview with the manager of the department you’re applying to.

HR people are impressed by confidence, communication skills, dress and a professional looking resume. They generally don’t try to test your knowledge to see if you really can do the things on your resume. That’s for the 2nd interview.

Dot. I have submitted resumes and not gotten an interview, but I have never gone on an interview and not been offered a position. I have actually been able to use a job offer as leverage to my current employer.

I know that some people might see some of these interview tips as stupid/ackward or whatever.

I have walked into multiple interviews wearing a full suit, to meet with someone wearing jeans. That is ackward, but imagine if I were wearing jeans and he/she were in a nice suit? You have to follow the book with this stuff.

My girlfriend just got a new job, went on interviews last week. 175 applications is 3 days. She did everything by the book, practiced the questions, wore the suit, the whole deal. She got the job.

It is systematic, play the game and you will get the job.

Yeah, different strokes for different folks I guess. I most likely won’t take a job that requires me to wear a tie. Not that I don’t like dressing up, but I don’t like that work environment. I am kinda like Peter in office space, I go into an interview, get comfortable, and just be myself. But again, like I said, everyone has different types of jobs they want, different requirements, etc…

this is a really silly statement

especially way down the line

“hey that guy with his associates has 14 years experience”
“hey that guy with the doctorate has 10 years experience”

tough choice

Oh hi guise! I’m on Nyspeed and am too good for everything! I’m too good for interviews! Im too good for resumes! I’m too good for COLLEGE! YAY! I am so excellent!

^^ Agreed. I did not finish off my education, I went down a totally different path. Now the two paths are starting to come together, and I am really going to have issues if I do not go back and finish off the last bit left on the degree. I started in Finance and Management, and really didn’t like the finance side so I got into sales… Now sales and sales management are running into each other and Well, the degree is REQUIRED for the promotion or to move elsewhere.

Resume stock paper went out with the 80’s
