HICAS removal

For me, i removed the fuse for hicas and i have a kazama hicas lock bar but i havent put it on yet. However, the fuse actually does seem to disable hicas and lock it up, i’m still going to put on the bar though.

The only time I really liked HICAS, was in shit weather, like ice and snow, rain not so much… I’ve driven both… HICAS has saved my life on an ice covered highway around a bend/overpass, the rear wheels turned enough to allow me to throttle steer through it at, oh, 120km’h, about 8seconds long, sideways, changed my underware after though (an expression-not literal)

thats cause there are 3 fail safe solenoids, I wouldn’t trust them with my life however

i took out all powersteering

much better

no hicas no heavy ps pump

clean engine bay

powersteering is for pussys anyways.

i swapped out hicas and replaced my suspension with full multi link and aluminum subframe collars. was probably the best 4 hours of work ive put into my car.

intense - where u get those bars???

So what’s exactly needed from the non-hicas version to do the swap to non-hicas? I wana go that route and do it completely.

I’m pretty sure you can take appart the Hicas PS pump and remove the rear section. so you may not require a pump.

after that, a rear subframe complete with arms and spindles

you can remove extra lines at this point…

not to sure what else… is needed if anything…

I personally am going to use a steering rack from a non hicas becuase there are less lines and it’ll look cleaner in the engine bay

Nah I want PS in the car…

So all the rear stuff is completely different than the non-hicas to the hicas? hmm?

You’re telling me even the front is different?!

hey s13, do you know how to remove the rear section of the hicas power steering pump?

its better to use a hicas rack because it has a faster steering ratio than non hicas steering racks.

i made the lock bars. and removed completely every peice of the hicas.

What about switching a S14 rear subframe in? Is there any differences?
I mean is it wider? Is it just as easy to swap in?

Peter

Does anyone have the 2ws PS pump?

you can block the rear feed line off the resevoir with a straight streaded bolt and not worry about anything else. I have 93 Hicas and am still using the KA PS pump. Im from brampton, if you want a hand or have any questions id be glad to help. I ran ionto this problem last May and I have had no issues to this day.

Marc

hey intense i sent u an email

PM me dude. I lost your email you sent.

one “gotcha” is that the plumbing for the SR pump is smaller so you’ll have to get a reducer,

but yeah, like Honz said, just leave the return/feed for the rear disconnected, cork them if you want,

if you want to remove the entire system (save weight / cleaner engine bay I guess) then you’ll have to get one of those hicas removal kits with the bar or whatever it is.

http://www.son240sx.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22552 posted in here can u help out bro

The pump itself is busted… from running fluidless, so I need a non-hicas DOHC PS pump.

Help me …
