Hiring: IT Helpdesk

[quote=“chino,post:40,topic:33333"”]

You’d have to have a financial and systems analysis background for the other half of my job, but hey - you convince them to make me the CIO, i’ll put in a good word :stuck_out_tongue:

Done!

How many people applied so far? Just out of curiosity.

been up for a day, about 15 applicants at this point

But wait wait there are no IT jobs in Buffalo

:frowning:

If only this job paid a little more… I am a systems engineer who does help desk stuff, remote management, and yadda yadda… MCSE… blah blah… networking… yib yab… outlook and retarded end users… hoe haa… I could probably do it.

i think you are missing the point. jim isnt looking to hire someone on the cheap… he is offering a great fucking opportunity to someone to make a lot of money in a short amount of time, if they are willing to work.

they could hire any IT loser to do helpdesk and pay them $10/hr to answer the phone all day… but instead of doing that he is trying to give someone who has the potential to succeed a chance at making a lot of cash - dont forget that the company is growing very quickly, and with that- there is a lot of room for advancement and upward movement

any of us could take the vast amount of experience we’ve gained here and get hired elsewhere easily… we don’t because the potential to learn and grow even more is still there, and we are all far from hitting the pay ceiling that you’d have a hard time finding anywhere else

working at a startup has a lot of advantages:smash2:

yeah this is an easy job, too bad starting pay isn’t better…not even enough for me to consider leaving LNet…

and that’s why you’ll still be making $15/hr for the next 5 years

:word:

No offense but where do you think dial up phone support is going???

I turned down a job at localnet doing unix admin stuff…since the company is really going no where and the starting pay at localnet was slightly more.

Yea, i don’t think it really needs to be explained any better than my earlier post about the company growth.

you can continue to work at a place like localnet, or time warner, but you need to realize it is not leading anywhere fast.

the higher up employees there have to probably have put in 10+ years before getting any sort of decent job. IMO

again, nothing is guaranteed, and our company may tank, and localnet may soar, I just think that is unlikely in comparison.

Where in South Buffalo are you located?

Localnet sucks dick FYI.

lol sooo sadly mistaken. I started at TWC at $11 an hour and now make over 20/hr. I have even passed up job offers (supervisor positions) because I dont want to be a baby sitter. Our raises vary from 4-7% a year and we get bonuses as well as free cable/rr.
